Clinton Criticized for Charging Charity

Volunteer groups in Ireland are criticizing ex-President Bill Clinton for charging a suicide prevention charity $125,000 for a 40 minute speech Monday night.

"Any initiative that contributes to the prevention of suicide is very welcome,” said Pat Buckley, spokesman for a group of Irish suicide support groups, in an interview with the Irish Examiner.

"But the money it will cost for Bill Clinton to make this keynote speech would fund a lot of counseling for the bereaved and those at risk of suicide in places like Cork, Limerick or Kerry."

Clinton's fee, Buckley added, could also cover the costs of "voluntary [suicide prevention] activities of groups North and South."

RehabCare, which is hosting the event, refused to discuss Clinton's fee, insisting to the Irish Independent: "We have raised E600,000 [$750,000] from the sale of 120 tables and every cent of that is going to suicide prevention."

"Mr. Clinton will speak for 40 minutes at the event in the Citywest Hotel and it is believed he will have something to say about the present situation in Northern Ireland as well as discussing suicide prevention in the Republic," the Independent said.

Suicide is a national crisis in Ireland, with the rate of those taking their own life increasing 400 percent in the last 15 years. Most victims are young men aged 15 to 24.

On Tuesday morning, Mr. Clinton will attend a breakfast at the Berkley Court Hotel in Dublin to raise money for the Rose Project, an Irish charity for AIDs sufferers in Africa.

It's not clear whether the ex-president will be charging the AIDs charity for his speech.

IIRC BJ knows more about causing "suicides" than preventing them.

I'm sure he told them plenty about the "hazards" of places like Fort Marcy Park.

It's a liberals virtue. They support everything as long as someone else pays for it.

Clinton has first-hand knowledge of how to PREVENT suicide? If they actually thought so, then they deserve the fee.

Yes he does. If you're an FOB, when the grand jury indictment comes, shut up, plead guilty and go to prison. That way you avoid suicide.

At least the good news is that he didn't assault any women while he was there. Well, we haven't heard any reports yet.

Volunteer groups in Ireland are criticizing ex-President Bill Clinton for charging a suicide prevention charity $125,000 for a 40 minute speech Monday night.

And I'll criticize this charity for allowing itself to be extorted.

That's because the speech is TOMORROW, he's probably not there yet. Wait a couple of days.

Gee I could have given them better advice for free.
Just stay away from the Clintons and less people will die from "suicides".
Oops now I've done it. Hillary will be here in Iowa alot, I better not say anything to bad without checking my own life insurance policy.

I think one of the sexual predator flyers that was placed on Hillary's block is in order here. Let's get their fax machine number.

Clinton charged $3125. per MINUTE. Thinks a lot of himself...but not enough about those poor souls that need counseling. A better man would have done it pro bono.
