While she takes the high road, they are pushing her name out there.
'She definitely wants to be president,' said one.
But the friend added, Rice isn't planning on quitting [as Secretary of State] to run.
'She wants to be drafted,' the source said.

Having never won a statewide election prior to running for President does present one with a much steeper learning curve than for someone who has previously undertaken such an endeavor.
Having said that, there is still one potential candidate for President I'd seriously consider even without the elective bona fides ... General Tommy Franks. (unless JEB taps him to run for Senate in Florida.)
There are a lot of names floating around. Rep. Mike Pence, Sen.Allen, Rep.DeLay...my favorites right now.
Eisenhower pulled the trick in '52 but he was the last President with no previous political experience. Keep in mind that Ike had universal goodwill after his victories in WWII. That doesn't translate to Iraq where the MSM has been telling lies for two years about it to attack Bush.
Remember, too, that Eisenhower gave us Earl Warren on the U.S. Supreme Court. Be careful what you wish for.

Do you really, honestly, ever think abortion will be outlawed in this Country? Are you willing to put a liberal Democrat in the WH because the GOP candidate is pro-choice? I know the answer, and that's what scares me.
I'd be surprised if Kerry or Edwards even run this time...
George and Laura Bush are associated with the United Methodist Church. Hasn't hurt them a bit. You can vote for some fringe candidate if you like, but you won't have a lot of company.
How about Speaker Hastert, although he probably isn't interested in running.
I think you'll find that the Church has left Condi and her family, even though they have not left their Church.
Here's my thinking on the Allen/Rice ticket. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.Allen with a male running mate(take your pick)would have a good shot at holding all the red states. Ohio and New Mexico though would still be battlegrounds.
With Rice as #2 you do two things. You cancel out Hillary's gender appeal to moderate women who might cross over and you peel away enough minority votes who cross over as a matter of racial pride of her being the first black candidate of a major party's ticket. If you sway a relatively small percentage of the black vote in the upper midwest and in PA you hold Ohio and have a better than even shot of taking Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylania.
That gets you to 334 electoral votes and sends Hillary home for good.
Hitlary'd wipe the floor with him. It's got be Rice, or hello Communism.

That's why I think we are already gravitating to an Allen/Rice ticket. She bucks up his foreign policy resume, he straightens her out on abortion and experience. We still get one hell of a classy black woman on the ticket to neutralize the Hildebeast.
I think we have a winner.
