Political associates of US Secretary of State Condi Rice ar e stirring the pot on her behalf.
While she takes the high road, they are pushing her name out there.
'She definitely wants to be president,' said one.
But the friend added, Rice isn't planning on quitting [as Secretary of State] to run.
'She wants to be drafted,' the source said.

So how come abortion is still legal?
Amen to that.
She's reluctantly pro-choice and somehow I don't think she's any different than DAD BUSH or did people forget about him too! Honestly, if it Hillary runs and Condi runs, no way I'll be staying home and POUTING because the candidate isn't a twin of Randall Terry.
Condi Rice needs to win a governorship first in either California or Alabama before running for president. If she votes right on the life issue, I'll consider her. Until then, no primary vote that's for sure, and I'll have to think real hard general time.
MARK Warner (D) might be.
Agreed. I have nothing against the lady, but her attitude of not wanting to mix it up is the last thing we need.
The more I see of George Allen, the more I like him. I think we already have a serious and outstanding candidate to take on Hillary.
Great headway has been made by both Presidents Reagan and Bush in building support against legalized abortion. Abortion will always be legal if pro-abortion Republicans succeed in their effort to remove opposition to abortion from the Republican platform. The only thing that you pro-abortion types who are pushing Sec. Rice for the Republican nomination will accomplish if you succeed is another democratic presidential victory.
The good news and the bad news is Condi can win. If you are opposed to abortion, that is bad news, and a Rice candidacy risks tearing apart the Ronald Reagan coalition of Free Marketeers, Strong on Defense, and Religious Conservatives.
Condi could, perhaps build a new coalition, but I think that would be much better tried in a State before we bet the whole ball of wax.
I would support Condi as a candidate for Governor. Alas, the RINO Arnold will get the nomination if he wants it. To tell the truth, Arnold has been better on his worse day than Davis was on his best day, but I was very disappointed, but not surprised, when Arnold signed the .50BMG registration/ban.
I see this thread de-generated....
so I will go with this:
MIKEINIRAQ in 2020!!!!
Her running as President COULD convert a few democrat blacks to become republican RINOs though..
Do we really NEED any black republian RINOS though.?..
What would be gained.?.. Compassionate conservative socialism?..
Would she be any worse than Colin Powell as President.?.
Condi could be worse,, Colin has been out'ed.. Condi is a mystery..
I think it will go back to the states at some point, which is fine by me. My state will probably take care of the rest here.
Are you willing to put a liberal Democrat in the WH because the GOP candidate is pro-choice? I know the answer, and that's what scares me
There's a "Big 3", sometimes "Big 4" in GOP circles. The Chamber of Commerce, NRA, and Right to Life. Farm Bureau is major in rural and some exurban districts. Club for Growth may be the 5th. Those are the biggest influences and base for the GOP. The state gun groups and GOA, other business groups like NFIB, SBAM, and other pro-life groups, police groups, and the rest matter as well, but the big ones are those 4.
When a pro-choice candidate ran against a liberal democrat for my congressional seat(then 51% democrat), she ran 10% behind the average in my county(the GOP base of the district). She won it with 53.22% and the dem won the entire district with 58% winnning every area of the district. The only ones with that amount here are sacrificial lambs with little to no campaign. This was supposed to be close.
About 3-4% of the GOP vote by percentage went to the democrat, and the rest to third parties. Many others stayed home. A conservative won that seat(open) two years later in a then upset, despite Bush losing Michigan by 5%. He won the district by 88 votes, and got 64% in the county. It was a mainstream and diverse district with an urban city(Lansing), a university city(East Lansing), exurban areas, liberal suburban areas, conservative surburban areas, and rural areas.
The conservative had Bush at the top of the ticket who lost Michigan by 5%. The pro-choice candidate had popular John Engler and the hated Geoff Fieger.
The only chance a pro-choice Republican will have is if the pro-gun crowd and business crowd walk through fire for the candidate. Condi Rice is very popular with much of the pro-2a crowd, but doesn't have a business record. Pataki and Rudy don't have a chance with gun and life groups. Business hates Pataki as well so there's the "hat trick".
I'm not going to say that a pro-choicer can't win, but there are more pro-life litmus test voters than any other outside of maybe the 2nd amendment. Even taxes lately are more apt to be forgiven. Going against one may still win(although it'd be much harder). Going against two of them is sure defeat.
i'd love to see a condi vs hillary race!
then the real racist would be apparent to all.
the democrat party would implode.
"George and Laura Bush are associated with the United Methodist Church. Hasn't hurt them a bit. You can vote for some fringe candidate if you like, but you won't have a lot of company."
I wonder how, as Christians, the President and the First Lady and Secretary Rice reconcile their beliefs in the sanctity of life, while supporting church denominations like the United Methodist Church (UMC) and Presbyterian Church of USA (PCUSA), who march with the ACLU, NARAL, NOW and an assortment of other Socialists and/or Anarchists, in support of abortion in all its horrid forms. Including partial birth abortion and the right to kill the child of your minor daughter.
But I think you are correct, most Americans don't care.

Rudy, while a good choice, may be on a collision course with the new Pope, who may insist that all Catholic politicans renounce pro-choice doctrine or leave the Church. That's gonna leave a mark whatever he does.
Unless I'm totally off base, there is a man who did quite well as president having never run an election.
Ike
He did a quite passable job as president and I think Cond's credentials are just as good as his, and would be even better prep.
