U.S. fueling fire in the Arab world
San Antonio Express-News ^ | 21 May 2005 | Mansour El-Kikhia

Posted on 05/21/2005 2:15:05 PM PDT by Racehorse

Newsweek has retracted the story, but the damage is already done. Like many Arabs and Muslims, I believe the incident did take place. I read reports in Arab media of similar incidents long before Newsweek's article came out. [. . .]

I can't speak for all Arab Americans, but I do find it difficult to believe the administration's denials. It has a long track record of telling whoppers that would make Pinocchio's nose longer than an elephant's trunk.

This leadership fabricated stories to promote foreign military adventures as well as harass and imprison innocent people. It currently promotes torture and uncivilized behavior, as well as injustice and occupation. Worst of all, it undermined Arab and Muslim Americans' civil rights, and its minions in the media have unjustly branded them a danger to humanity and civilization. Hence, it would be foolish for Arab Americans or Muslims to believe this government has their best interest at heart.

[. . .]

What did the Bush administration gain from its misadventures except horrendous losses in life, wealth and respectability, as well as the enmity of the region's inhabitants? Throughout the Arab world there is an underlying anger with the Bush administration on many issues. Hence, it makes little sense to promote this anger by silly policies.

Mansour El-Kikhia teaches Political Science at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He is a refugee from Kaddafi's Libya and is apparently a naturalized citizen.

His column appears in the San Antonio Express-News each Saturday. They seldom deviate from what you read above.

The loss of life was the deaths of Muslims, killed by other Muslims. So, Yes, it was a net GAIN.

Someone should suggest to this fellow that he try flushing *any* book down a toilet, then ask him if he still believes the incident really took place as Newsweak suggests.

He is a refugee from Libya...so he finds wealth, fame and security in this country, then has the audacity to behave in this fashion. Nice. It must be wonderful to be like these leftists and walk around with no sense of shame...

What an ungrateful little &#*& this guy must be.

Like many Arabs and Muslims, I believe the incident did take place.

And so what if it did? Is your so-called religion so insecure with itself that it can't just accept that some folks think it's a pile of bunk?

Every other major religion seems to able to handle this puny affront - are the Mohammedans just thin skinned lil' wussy boys?

Strange,....did I miss the announcement? Have the good peaceful 2nd generation Muslims formed a Regimental Combat Brigade like the Japanese did in WWII to stand up for their new country? Strange, I must have missed that announcement. </sarcasm

What's really important is that the Arab world has fueled the fire in America. That is, except among the Arab Muslims we graciously allowed to enter, and practice their faith.

So, there are "flames in the arab world..." Well, does anybody here remember how you put out the flames of an oil well fire? With explosives! I'd like to see them put out those "arab flames!"

Well you know what I heard. I heard that Newsweek steals Korans and shreds them to make recycled paper to print their magazines on. I wonder what the "Arab Street" would think of that?

The Qu'ran is Qu'rap, and if the Newapeak story were true, I would say that the Qu'ran ended up right where it belonged.

The proof of the Qu'ran's value is in the pudding. All one has to do is look at the societies it has spawned to see that any value it might have is far outweighted by the toll of human ignorance, misery and suffering it has imposed over the centuries.

May the prophet Mohammed be buggered daily in Hell.

Consider the source of the article. I believe, not very often though, our govt's stance. Besides, I really couldn't care. The crazy islamics gag at a gnat and swallow a camel. Have no respect for them.

The 7th-century 'culture' of the muslim world doesn't need any fuel for it's hatred. They operate on a 'hatred fusion' system that is self-contained and totally perpetual. Friggin whackjobs.

Hey you, yeah you---Mansour. You're a one dimensional fruitcake. Without ANY evidence, just your own 12th century attitude, you suspect a book got flushed. Suck on this: In spite of the lack of evidence I HOPE it happened. And I'd be willing to build an industrial strength flusher so's we could git ér done in bigger volume. And take a drag on this too: Until your Islamodink friends quit killing American women and kids the Bush Doctrine says we are going to kill a whole bunch more of them!

I can't speak for all Americans, but I do find it difficult to believe Islam's denials that it is a religion which worships murder and violence.

"Throughout the Arab world there is an underlying anger with the Bush administration...it makes little sense to promote this anger...

why should doing the right thing anger the muslims?

because they want to do the 'wrong' thing and continue their satanic, moon-demon worship, live like its the 7th century and idolize a child molesting, murderer!

further, why should we care if a bunch of backwards, primitive, half-witted zealots are angry?

never forget that the USA is the ONLY country with actual experience using nuclear weapons and mecca is easily within reach!
