Fine, Tony. Rescorla deserves it. But why hasn't England Knighted Rescorla? He was the very epitome of a knight. He lived by the honorable code - He slew dragons on many battlefields. He rescued thousands of damsels in distress.
If that ain't a Knight, what is? Elton John?

When you read the bio and war history of this man, you realize he is especially remarkable. His leadership saved many a troop in Vietnam as well as on 911. It seems he probably would have made it out of the tower except for one stubborn Senior Executive of his company.

Better question is, why hasn't the US honored a man that saved 2,700 lives that day? If they have, I withdraw my question, but I haven't heard anything about it. I believe he was highly decorated for his Vietnam service too.

Yup. He did a great job getting all his people out. When the Port Authority was telling tower 2 people over the pa system to stay in their offices after the 1st tower was hit, he ignored them and made everyone evacuate. Given how many people on other floors listened and stayed put, only to die when the 2nd plane hit, his actions no doubt saved hundreds of lives.

Because Knighthoods are never given posthumously. In fact the insignia of knighthoods are returned after death to the Crown. However. Mr. Rescola is deserving of a George Cross, the Crown's highest decoration for civilian bravery.
It is given for: "acts of conspicuous gallantry performed by men or women when not in the face of the enemy".
A GC takes precedence over a mere knighthood anyway.

Americans have spoken, but the DC crowd is to "busy" to honor A Brother.

But he said: "Frankly it is shameful that we are now nearly four years on from the terrible event itself and Rick Rescorla has not received, posthumously, what all who know about his case believe he richly deserves."

Rick Rescorla
A great battle shot.
No sleep for 48 hours.
Grimy, unshaven, filthy uniform.
Canteens loose, dogtags hanging out, pocket unbuttoned, helmet strap hanging.
No insignia of rank, sleeves up.
Dirty fingernails.
His bayonet is fixed; trigger finger alert and ready for action.
Lt. Rick Rescorla, Platoon Leader, B Co 2/7 Cav in Bayonet Attack on the morning of 16 Nov 1965.

Rick Rescorla served in Vietnam Rick Rescorla, 62, was head of security for Morgan Stanley Dean Witter when two hijacked airliners hit the World Trade Centre in 2001. He died after helping save 2,700 people by making sure they left the South Tower before it collapsed. His body has never been found.

This is way overdue. This man was a true knight of the highest order. His widow has been on New York talk shows and his story is incredible.
