TAIPEI - A man in Taiwan has died and four others were poisoned after drinking a popular bottled fizzy drink laced with cyanide and labelled "I am poisonous. Please do not drink."
Some of the victims thought the warning was a new advertising slogan, police said on Thursday.
The manufacturer of Bullwild energy drink, Paolyta Co., ordered an island-wide recall of about 1.2 million to 1.6 million bottles. The drink, which is popular among taxi drivers and workers, has also been taken off shelves in Hong Kong and Macau.
Police suspect someone laced the drink with cyanide before placing it on store shelves, and released footage taken from a surveillance camera of a man in his 20s or 30s in the hope the public could help identify him.
A 55-year-old man died of cyanide poisoning late on Wednesday and four victims remained in hospital, two in critical condition, police said
I guess we should remove all those "Get out of the way!" signs from the fronts of steamrollers.
lol
Sort of like people who vote Democrat; "This politician will raise your taxes sky high!" "Hey why are my taxes sky high?"
The way this was written, it sounded like the drink was MADE with cyanide rather than tampered with.
Suspect described as a male, Asian, having a light build with very dark black hair, or possibly medium-dark black hair.
"Taiwanese usually ignore warning labels ?"
Kinda like FReepers that ignore "Gruesome Photo" labels??
(for want of a "triple" warning) Jeez.
lol...shouldnt take long to track him down
Apparently tamper proof seals haven't made it to Taiwan.
LOL>..isnt THAT the truth ?
Watch it... that's profiling!
This is just too bizarre, they thought it was an advertising slogan?!? Do they routinely advertise products in Taiwan that are labeled "This will kill you, do not purchase?"
You find the most interesting articles to post!
thanks :)
Yeah, it's confusing. It says he "thought" the warning label was an advertising gimic. But it also says the drink is popular, so it's obviously not killing everyone.
Almost sounds like someone put cyanide in it AND a warning label on it. Maybe someone was trying to test it out to see how many people would drink it, anyway. (What a sicko).
Red and Triple!!!
Maybe it was for a popular TV show in Taiwan. Cue music - "smile, you're on candid camera" - aaaaaaachhhhhhhh! (Thud)
I guess nothing should surprise us, anymore. :-)
