I have a private "Florida FReeper" ping list that I maintain, primarily for items of bigger-than-average informational or political interest.

Or, just plug the appliances directly into the generator...this way, you're completely clear of the housing electrical wiring. I have a heavy duty electrical extension cord with multiple outlets just for this purpose.

Yes, that will work as well. I was thinking of the large appliances, e.g. refrigerator or hard-wired air conditioning, which might not be as easy to unplug and replug.
