When news comes thick and fast it's easy to miss the larger picture. Let's recap recent events.

Back in March, the Liberals presented their budget. At first the Conservative Party said it would support the budget bill, guaranteeing its passage, but they quickly found that the Liberals had slipped in a form of carbon tax. This was unacceptable to the Tories who insisted it be removed. Stephen Harper pledged his party would vote against the budget unless a change was made. The Liberals refused, they were on top in the polls and all but openly welcomed an early election.

At the same time Justice Gomery continued his inquiry into the sponsorship scandal. Jean Brault, the head of Groupaction Marketing, took the stand on the last day of March. His testimony was given in open court, but a publication ban prevented the media from reporting the contents of his testimony. The press were able to report panicked reaction of the Liberal caucus, however.

Within a couple of days details of the testimony were posted on an American blog and it became crystal clear that the sponsorship scandal was not merely the usual government waste and incompetence. The ruling party now stood accused by a man under oath of carrying out a criminal conspiracy to launder taxpayer money for the benefit of the Liberal party.

The red photos of the communists in those photos are good. Red is the color of Canada, Europe, France, the Soviets, Red China, Red Cuba, Red Venezuela, Red North Korea. It used to be during the cold war that RED was Red China. I guess it was the politically correct crowd who dropped the Red off one of their favorite red idols.

Rather adds irony to the fact that virtually everywhere else on the globe - other than in the U.S. - the colors red and blue continue to be correctly identified respectively with "left" and "right" causes, movements, etc.

Oddly, this American ideological color-reversal apparently dates only to the late 70's when it was constructed by the liberal msm to draw attention away from true leanings of its political bed-fellows. Accordingly, these days when American conservatives talk about so-called red and blue states they're actually - but seemingly unknowingly -assisting their "red" opponents in this disinformation campaign.

Along with Lady Thatcher - God bless her! - we should all be proud to call ourselves "TRUE BLUE" conservatives.

I don't think it's anything that sinister. I seem to recall looking at the electoral map in 1984, when Reagan won his landslide, and the only red on the map was Minnesota.

Blue was traditionally assigned to the incumbent party, thus Reagan had blue in 1984, and Gore had blue in 2000. After all the blue vs. red hubbub in 2000, it stuck.

That's just my understanding of it, at least.

I agree. I wondered when I first heard that red and blue terms used, why the commies were not the reds, as they should be. I guess keeping them from wearing their nature colors is like wearing the white jersey on the road and colored one at home. But, they reverse it like the Cowboys do.
