Howard Dean's Meet the Press Appearance Worries Dems
The National Ledger ^ | May 18, 2005 | Robert Novak

WASHINGTON -- After Howard Dean last weekend declared Tom DeLay ought to be in jail, a longtime Democratic operative told me the party's national chairman had momentarily ripped off his muzzle but that it soon would be restored. My source erred, however, in believing that Dean ever had been muzzled. It's just that nobody has paid much attention to his rants.

Since his election as chairman of the Democratic National Committee [DNC] on Feb. 12, Dean has studiously avoided most national television exposure. But he has been talking constantly to party gatherings across the country, and his intemperate language at these outings contradicts the notion that he has been kept under control. That he will leap onto the national stage Sunday by accepting a long-pending request to appear on NBC's "Meet the Press" with Tim Russert raises concern among the Democratic political players whether he will contain himself.

No need to worry dems. Tim will have his DNC kneepads on. A typical liberal puke lovefest.

The party's congressional leaders, Sen. Harry Reid and Rep. Nancy Pelosi, sat down with the newly elected Chairman Dean for a heart-to-heart talk. They politely urged him to restrain his rhetoric, to organize rather than inflame.

Oh, the irony.

I hope the Democrats don't muzzle that loudmouth leader any time soon. He'll serve to help Republicans recruit more voters.

I'm sure that Howard Dean is perfectly capable of accurately representing the essence of the Democrat Party.

Does anyone even watch Tim Russert anymore...when he doesn't have Rush on?

Dean is nuts, even Barney Franks has condemned him recently.

Howard Dean is a walking advertisement for the advantages of conservatism.

I knew Dean would be fun for us. He's just an uncontrolled (and uncontrollable) wacko.

Howard Dean is the gift that keeps on giving :-)

Whenever i debate a liberal, my first question is "What exactly is the Democrats offering in way of a solution to the problems we face in energy and Social Security?" That question quiets them up real quick :-)

The Democrats are in a deep free fall, the fall won't hurt them much, but that landing is gonna be a MoFo

A truly representative leader for the Democratic Party. Hopefully he will take his meds and keep a lid on it.

Yup. Please lets do all we can to keep Howie in the chairmanship thru '08. The last thing we want is a competent person running their ship.

Absolutely. The Democrats should really be proud they have him for their leader. He is the visual representation that is the Democrat party. His unbridled nonsense and unhinged style helps Conservatives immeasurably.

I'm at the point that I record it, read the Sunday postings here, and usually just erase it without watching. It seems a waste of time when I spend the hour just yelling back at Timmy when he takes the Dem line, without checking the facts that any idiot could find.
