I have a weird question.

When you read our posts, do you hear the words in your head as if they were spoken with a British accent, or an American accent (not that most Americans think we have an accent*, but you know what I mean).

* Do people in other countries refer to "the American accent"?

No I don't think of the American accent sometimes I have to think what does that actually mean as it does not always have the exact same interpretation both sides of the Atlantic such as the word Liberal though this is creeping into our politics. We use left wing, Labour or Socialist more.

Yes in England most people would say American accent or more commonly Yank accent

Butting in here. When I went to college for a semester in England, I had more than one guy who wanted to date me because of my American accent.

On the other hand, me being mixed black and white, and I guess foreigners don't think of Americans of other races, I did have several people tell me that my English was 'very good' and ask where I learned it. It would always surprise them when I'd say 'I'm American. I'm a native speaker.'
