Free Korans for the American People

An Islamic civil rights group is launching a Koran giveaway -- a campaign intended to turn a "negative incident into something more positive," it said.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations planned to hold a Tuesday morning news conference to discuss details of its campaign to offer free Korans to the American public.

CAIR said its campaign is a direct response to the controversy generated by Newsweek magazine's May 9 article claiming that U.S. interrogators at Guantanamo Bay flushed a Koran down a toilet in an effort to "rattle" detainees.

Newsweek retracted the anonymously sourced story on Monday, after first admitting that parts of it were wrong.

CAIR said its campaign, called "Explore the Koran," involves the community-sponsored distribution of Islam's revealed text to Americans nationwide.

"It is our belief that greater access to Islam's holy book will help foster a better appreciation and understanding of Islam by ordinary Americans," said CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad.

Last week, CAIR called on the Bush administration to launch a public probe of the Koran-flushing allegations..."

(I wonder if they have a PR version for Americans? .. otherwise ...)

Why doesn't someone ask these CAIR guys why we can't send Bibles to Saudi Arabia? They should be called on their double standard.

It's a way for CAIR to collect names and addresses.

If you're planning a Koran-smoked pig barbeque or a flush-a-thon, make sure that you place your order from an untraceable number and have it delivered to an anonymous P.O. box.

I can't decide. I'll take eight, please.

Oops, forgot the shotgun. I'll need two more, one for each barrel. Line them up side-by-side, of course.

Sad thing, I've known some upstanding folks who were followers of Wallace Deen Muhammad, who I'd have felt I could have trusted with my life. Now I'd feel compelled to persuade them away from their beliefs, possibly at great hazard to themselves.

Looks like Newsweek provided a nice segue for Islamic proselytizing.

Well said!

... and by the way, you've nailed it with the label "moon god."

"Allah" is not the True God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
"Allah" was the "Moon god" of the ancient Arabs, just as "Luna" was to the Romans.

"Don't you know judges have ruled we are NOT A CHRISTIAN NATION!"

Well yea judges, and the founding fathers.

The government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion.

Hey CAIR won't allow Christians to distribute Bible freely in any Muslim country. I've heard of some Christian groups got Saudi fax numbers and faxed the entire new testament to offices...during the night.

Oh, good. Free toilet paper!

My thoughts exactly. I hope its pages are softer, more absorbent and easier to flush than my old Qurans. Sura 9 in particular required several attempts at flushing...

I thought the main problem with the moonbats was that infidels were defiling their holy book, which only dedicated moonbats can touch with purified hands. Now, they are going to pass them out to every unwashed infidel? Let me see, they send one out to you in the mail, get your address, are they then going to visit your house to ensure you have taken care of it? This makes absolutely no sense.
