Jones didn't raise enough money to really stand a chance against Boxer in 2004. I agree with you that it would be very difficult for Jones to defeat Feinstein, but if in 2006 the GOP nominates Arnold for Governor, McClintock for Lt. Gov. and Condi Rice for Senator, I think it will motivate members of all wings of the CA GOP to go vote and lead to a victory for all three candidates.

If Rice decides to forgo the Senate race and stay as Secretary of State, then our best candidates against DiFi are probably Congressman Cox (unless he would rather be a federal judge) or Congressman Dreier.

In view of the Democrats' pre-emptive defamation and vilification propaganda tactics with the enabling establishment MEDIA's broadcasts, I think the Republican party should play it close to the vest until the 11th hour. If Condi was the Republican VP candidate it would really challenge the racism-mongers among the leftist Democrats and the NAACP.

Condi is a real classy lady, maybe too much of a lady for the vicious world of partisan politics.

I guess no one will believe it till the field of candidates take the stage. After all the tricks the dems pull with their candidates, ie. Torricelli, they expect us to do the same. They probably believe if the GOP whipped out a wax figure of Ronald Reagan, we'd vote for it.

I think Santorum is a panderer. I think he would sell his soul to the illegals like Bush has if he thinks it would buy him votes. I've lost a great deal of respect for Santorum over the Snarlin Arlin thing.

I'd love that ticket, but would the GOP stand behind the candidates? Both Jones and McClintock are spectacular choices, but did not have the support of the RNC. I think the RNC has given up on CA.. but with Arnold in the picture, that could present a change. Again, we have the alien and fraud vote to consider.

I will have to do some homework on Cox. I'm not that familiar with his record, (seems I've said that a lot today), but from what I've read he sounds terrific.

We need a strong team with finacial support to energize the CA GOP... I would love to see McClintock as Senator.

I saw an interview of Mitt Romney, Massachusetts Governor. He looks like a good prospect to me.....don't know much about him but like his style. Looks good in his suit, relaxed, articulate, etc.

I don't like the McCain-Kennedy amnesty proposal.. so, he lost me there.

As far as his service, he was a hero, but that does not exempt him nor excuse him for his role in helping Kerry destroy SHRED records of POW/MIA's while a member of the Select Committee. Doing so buried these men. I do NOT trust his mental stability, nor do I believe he has the temperment to carry the highest office with dignity.

Although I respect your view, I am opposed to the notion that one needs some sort of government experience to be elected President. I am of the mind that the intention of the Founders was for high achieving folks from the private sector to enter governemtn positions, then go back to their private lives. You might, however, argue they should have included term limits in the Constitution, and you would be right.

I think the Primaries are an excellent venue for vetting potential candidates (hey I used two "v" words in a sentence). That debate gives us a great deal of insight into the candidate.

If we had a strong potential nominee they could be well-positioned to run for president if, say, Dick Cheney were to retire/resign as VP during mid-term (for health or personal reasons). Problem is, will we even have a viable nominee by this time next year ...

Most excellent points counselor. I would love Congress to return to the days of citizen legislators, that return to their lives after a set term limit and live with the same laws they made for the rest of us. No lifetime perks, healthcare, protection or priviledge, other than that of having served, and the honor that goes along withit. That was indeed the intention of the founders.

Which bring me to your point of the primaries. I think we as a nation need reform in this process as well. Consider Leiberman / Dean. Had the primaries started in the heartland, I think Lieberman would've had a fighting chance to carry the Dems to victory. Did I want that? No. But the debate in this country would've been far different I think.. and far more healthy and pro-American.

Personally, I'd like to see Condi Rice defeat Hillary in 2008. Condi is smart, that is the number 1 reason that I'd vote for her. Now, if Condi won, would the Dems continue to complain that black folks were being "oppressed" at the voting booths all over the country?
