It's the sort of Army joke that would be expected to earn a severe rebuke from commanding officers.
But what began as an amateurish spoof could earn a fortune for charity and become the smash hit of the summer.
A group of soliders who jokingly filmed a version of the hit song (Is This The Way to) Amarillo? were coping with sudden stardom.

Deptartment of Defense offered it to Comic Relief, which could use it to donate thousands of pounds to charity. The shakily filmed video ended up bringing the Ministry of Defenses computer system to its knees, crashing the server.

It's a hoot, almost as good as 'Good Morning Vietnam.'
its great stuff. its amazing what you can come up with when you mix a camcorder, windows movie maker, and an attempt to alleviate boredom.
It's good to see that a sense of humor goes all the way up to the top. In such a high stress environment, it's great to see folks can still remain grounded. Funny vid!
You will definitely want to see this.

Any reason why they might have titled the website "Is this the way to Armadillo?".....or just an oopsy?

I think they were trying to funny...
I don't know this song. Are they recreating a music video?
It's a song from like 1971. Sounds like Tom Jones or Neil Diamond to me...
