Every so often, in the hushed galleries of Congress, history unfolds in a manner that casts the momentous business of Capitol Hill in stark, even humbling relief.
Then there are moments spent discussing the Whizzinator.
Yesterday morning in Room 2123 of the Rayburn Building, Rep. Bart Stupak, a sober-voiced Democrat from Michigan, held up an advertisement for the "drug-test subversion device," which received national attention last week when it was learned that an NFL player had been detained at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport after authorities found the state-of-the-art prosthetic in his luggage (with a packet of dehydrated urine). The player -- Onterrio Smith of the Minnesota Vikings -- was detained, word of his predicament leaked (ahem), and Smith became an inadvertent billboard for the Whizzinator.
The Whizzinator isn't quite the gold standard in athletic endorsements. Rather, Stupak is bemoaning the ease with which people can buy Whizzinators with credit cards, money orders or checks, and have them delivered by U.S. mail or UPS or FedEx.

Whatever you say.
Now hear this!!! If you don't toe the party line and vote for republicans no matter what, even when there is a better candidate in another party to choose from, then you don't really care about conservative issues. What country do you think we are living in?
Thou shalt not vote for the best conservative candidate lest he is acceptable to republicans. - The Gospel According to mbraynard
Never said anything like that. I said your influence by being part of the anti-social loser party is zero. That is all. But like I said, you don't care about that, you are more interested in dying 'pure.'
Actually you called me a fatass, and a nutcase after I made it clear that I disagree with your idea of sticking with the republicans no matter what. Don't try to deny that you find it necessary throw around ridiculous personal insults towards someone you don't even know because I happen to disagree with your idea that the republicans deserve my undying support.
And as for your second time using the remark about me wanting to die "pure", all I can say is that you're reaching. You're really reaching.
Now please stop talking because I feel like I'm arguing with a democrat.
Libertarian is not the ONLY other party. There's the Constitution Party (probably has well over a dozen members), and, for those so inclined, the Green Party. And I believe there are even a few more.
I guess I can add illiterate to the list.
I TOLD you that your given goals cannot be reached through a third party but would be better reached by trying to work within one of the two real parties (R or D). The same would apply if you were a Greenie Weenie.
I only point all of this because our goals are mostly similar to mine own. If you were on a soccer team and you saw a teamate kicking the ball the wrong way, wouldn't you try and turn him around?
You being more interested in the "next life" comes through because you are discussing wanting to 'meet your maker' without having ever been in the same party as Sue Collins. I don't like her either, but it's her vote that will allow us to confirm our judges. And even if you don't vote for her in the booth, you are still better off adjitating from within the party.
It's simple physics and political mechanics.
Of course, like I said, that would require EFFORT, and that's not what your interested in. Let me ask - how many R party (or D party) precinct meetings have you ever attended?
