This is most certainly a concerted effort on their part to turn this into a circus.

Watching the swimmer get slapped was fun.

But I CAN'T WAIT to see BYRD slapped down. I know there are many on these threads who fully expect the pubbies to cave on this. I disagree. I think Frist has the votes, has been biding his time for the most opportune time, and will go to the mats on this.

The Dems probably think they're holding Byrd in reserve for some last minute chicanery. But I think the pubbies have anticipated every parliamentary rule he might try and will be ready to slap Byrd down, too.

Now, THAT I want to see!

Prayer is the most powerful tool we have.

Well done, Frist and Brownback!

I can't wait to hear their talking points during debate. What can they possible object to that won't show their true colors.

"The Dems have painted themselves in a real corner. They never thought the GOP would call their bluff, and now they have no way out. Their base would cruicify them. THis is a kamikaze mission for Reid, and BTW, affter the 2006 election, when the GOP gains again in both houses..look for Reid and Pelosi to get tossed overboard by their caucuses..Also, when the 7 finally do get an up-or-down vote...many will get 60+ in favor.."

I see this a different way. This is an opportunity for the Democrat party to finally realize that they have been taken ove by the hard left in this country and do something about it.

Leftist money did not win them the Whitehouse or anything for that matter. Now is the time to tell moderate Dems that everything they ever worked for to make America great is about to be flushed down the toilet and for guilt purposes tell them that they are the ones to change it.

Will it happen? Nahhh...

Hillary knows that the Rats can't win, and she is keeping quiet so as to look like a moderate.

Meanwhile, I have no doubt she is encouraging Reid in his obstruction.

These guys try to make it up as they go, and their base depends on it.

Yes, but Reid knew he would be on national TV and had to "pretend" that he is the reasonable one---that he wants to work with the reps., but then show that the reps are the intractable ones by denying his request---

They have had their "war room" working overtime on all of these tactics, it is ALL gonna be scripted---just like that idiot Schumer asking Frist to let him ask a question--trying to get Frist off of his flow of speech, because Schumer knows this is a "good campaign" speech to get Frist's pres. campaign a kick start....

All of the above is, of course, IMHO

They know the media is watching. They want Frist to appear unbending and stern. The whole effort will be towards discrediting the Republicans while the cameras are rolling.

Lucky for us, it appears that Frist does not care. And, unless McCain has a change of heart, Frist will be able to beat him up on this during the 2008 campaign.

Hardly the point. In American politics, Perception generally rules the day, and the fact is, the US Senate is woefully unprepared for a HoC style of exchange.

If Coleman was playing for Legalities, it should have been in a less public setting.

Kinda wish I could put on a white robe and pointy white hat and introduce Byrd properly making note of great legacy.

I am very pleased that all the cables are showing this.

MSNBC was showing a Owens' picture on the screen along with Frist speaking.

As soon as Frist just moved on to Brown, MSNBC put her picture up.

Now Chris Jansing interrupting to tell viewers what they're watching...but it looks like they're sticking with it. They are.
