Thank you for that refreshing bit of historical background. I wish more Americans, esp elected officials, would familiarize themselves with the sources of our republican form of gov't.

btw, it is the one thing to be admired about Byrd - that he keeps a pocket Constitution. I do as well and find it a great argument winner.

There's truth to this. We have to encourage all conservatives to have large families. I know a very faithful conservative who adopted 2 kids and then they went on to have 8 more. Don't know if they're done but we need more like them.

As the Republican Leader and Committee Chair of the Judiciary Committee, it's up to him to carry the water for the President and the leadership of the Republican Caucus. He's not doing that, and I'm not one bit surprised. He had a real set of gonads telling the President who to send the committee if a SC opening became available right after the President won a historic election which even included picking up seats in the senate, and sending Daschle home. I haven't been waiting 5 minutes concerning this issue. It's been 4 months since the new congress was sworn in and that would be my peg on when this should of occurred.

The people on our side sound like sane human beings. This cannot be said for the dems, and I cannot wait for Byrd. If one of my office mates shows up, they are risking death.
