President Bush met with former South African President Nelson Mandela.

Rob Portman was sworn in as United States Trade Representative.

Some members of the WH press corps attempted to mug Scott McClellan and feed words into his mouth during the press briefing today, regarding the White House statement that the United States' image abroad had suffered irreparable damage by Newsweek's now retracted story about the Koran and Guantanamo Bay.

Texas judge Priscilla Owen and California judge Janice Rogers Brown visited President Bush at the White House and then Senate Republicans at the Capitol as lawmakers moved toward a confrontation over Democratic filibustering of the women's nominations to U.S. appeals courts.

QUOTE by Scott McClellan at the press briefing, in response to a question about the WH stance on the Newsweek story: "... now I think it's incumbent ... upon Newsweek to do their part to help repair the damage. And they can do that through ways that they see best, but one way that would be good would be to point out what the policies and practices are in that part of the world, because it's in that region where this report has been exploited and used to cause lasting damage to the image of the United States of America. It has had serious consequences. And so that's all I'm saying, is that we would encourage them to take steps to help repair the damage."

Please take time to click the links in the presidential day news summary. Some good things there.

Why did Bush meet with mandella? To Thank him for destroying South Africa. He may as well meet with Charlie Manson they are both terrorists.
