Ora Mae Magouirk, the 81-year-old Georgia widow at the center of a contentious family fight over her medical treatment and right to live, (link broken in original) died of a stroke today at approximately 8 a.m. Eastern, at a nursing home in LaGrange, Ga., according to her nephew, Ken Mullinax of Birmingham, Ala.

Mullinax told WorldNetDaily that his aunt's condition had improved considerably since her ordeal last month, but took a turn for the worst Wednesday when her vital signs began to weaken. On Sunday an apparent stroke hit her, causing her to have difficulty with speaking, and her blood pressure dropped to 60/30.

She died surrounded by family, including her brother, A.B. McLeod, 65, of Anniston, Ala., who had spent eight hours with her Sunday, Mullinax said.

Mullinax made that up......she was in such bad shape that taking an ambulance was too long....she was not dehydrated at our hospital, she just refused to eat. She also chose to take her feeding tube out. Her living will was twisted around, she never requested to be put on one.

Has anyone seen a posting from Mr. Mullinax?

Sorry...also meant to tell everyone that UAB and Emory are the leading hospitals in the southeast for heart problems. Both of my grandparents were flown in. West Georgia Medical Center is noted for their Cancer Clinic.

Be prepared. Now that you've posed a contrary view here, you will be branded a murderer, a death troll and more. Don't let them get you down.

Mullinax put on a media blitz based on lies. The media were willing dupes. So Mae's wishes were subverted to satify the meddling nephew and his mother. In Alabama, they stuck needles in Mae and called the newspapers. Then they sent her home to the Bryan Nursing Home in LaGrange, Ga and she died. Only one thing changed because of the ordeal, Mullinax got face time. So he's happy. The family is in shambles but Kenny got his face time.

I expect we will see more distant relatives of dying folks crawling out of the woodwork after the Shiavo mess. They get some media exposure and their 15 minutes of fame......and maybe some of the estate. Sure didn't take long for this nephew to cash in on the Shindlers misery. I can just imagine the "ah-ha!" moment.

Mullinax is/was the media consultant (contracted) for the City of Birmingham. He knew exactly how to manipulate the media in the Terri Schiavo aftermath. You're right there will be more.

Aren't wills made public after the declarant's death?

It's my understanding that if it's handled in probate court it will be public record. If the decedent's final affairs are handled through a properly drawn trust privacy can be maintained.

"Aortic dissection would lead to a ruptured aorta and death from blood loss"

A hemorrhagic stroke develops when an artery in the brain leaks or bursts and causes bleeding inside the brain tissue or near the surface of the brain.

An aortic aneurysm is a stretched and bulging section in the wall of the aorta. A bulging aorta is weakened and can burst, or rupture, resulting in life-threatening bleeding.
Similar?
Was she on blood thinners, was she on blood thickeners, was she on blood pressure medicines to treat the aneurysm which contributed to the stroke?

I could care less how you try to insult me personally, but act a little more mature and reserved.

I can find no insult to you in my post #52 to you. Your post to me however is full of hateful invective towards me for simply asking you to answer the question I posed to you twice before and you ignored. I think you should take your own advice.

By the way, you still didn't answer the question.

I guess you've shown that bursting veins in the brain and aorta are similar. Does that mean they are related?

You also seem to be saying that an aortic dissection is the same thing as an aortic aneurysm. Are they?

A link by itself doesn't qualify as support it has to actually have something of substance in it.

And your sole source with a financial interest, Mullinax, is not credible. At least the reporter in the story I linked talked to the judge and hospice operators. WND only quotes Mullinax.

I didn't post the link because I thought you would approve. It was for the benefit of the common sense crowd. Speaking of common sense, are you aware that dehydration would cause HEAT stroke, not what Mae died from. However, being moved from spot to spot on the whim of a meddling nephew could cause an existing blood clot to travel to the brain causing the kind of stroke that she did die from. If anybody killed Mae it was Mullinax.

There is a very good likelihood that Mae would have made it a few more months if she was left alone at the Hospice La Grange where she was being attended to quite nicely by the Georgia family.

At least the reporter in the story I linked talked to the judge and hospice operators.

Let's look at the entirety of those quotes:

Judge Boyd called Mullinax's charges completely false and said all relatives agreed to let three doctors decide what was next for Magouirk. He said that everyone was happy with the compromise.

“They were hugging necks, and, as far as I knew, the family was fine,” the judge said.

“I've even been accused several times of murder and I've had, I would say, close to a hundred e-mails,” Boyd said.

The CEO of the West Georgia Health System told 11Alive News, "No patient at our hospice is denied food or water."

That doesn't amount to much. What makes either of these people more credible than Ken Mullinax? They both have their own agendas to protect. Ken Mullinax is also supported by Mae's sister and brother. Quite a conspiracy theory you and La Grange Resident have going there.

Speaking of common sense, are you aware that dehydration would cause HEAT stroke, not what Mae died from.

Yes. Are you aware that the condition she had, aortic dissection, would be greatly exacerbated by any stress?

However, being moved from spot to spot on the whim of a meddling nephew could cause an existing blood clot to travel to the brain causing the kind of stroke that she did die from.

Sure it could, doc.

If anybody killed Mae it was Mullinax.

I thought you were contending that she was "terminal?" That she was, in essence, dead already? She was starved, dehydrated and drugged with morphine for ten days and you now contend that moving her by helicopter with a team of medics and rehydrating her via IV is what killed her?

So which is it? was she terminal, six months to live, (still no documentation that her doctor ever said that) or did Ken Mullinax kill her? (with the help of Beth Gaddy's legal agreement and Judge Boyds ruling) What side of the fence does your position stand better on today? Hmmm?

TE: You also seem to be saying that an aortic dissection is the same thing as an aortic aneurysm. Are they?

Doesn't your computer have Google?

You might ask Smartaleck that since he's the one playing twenty medical questions here.

To answer you; yes, I have Google as well as a Tabor's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary. Without looking at either I can tell you both that an aneurysm is an abnormal widening of a blood vessel and that 'dissection' in the context of a blood vessel refers to leaking of blood.

An aortic dissection may be associated with an aneurysm but there are a number of other causes for dissection not associated with an aneurysm. On the other hand an aortic aneurysm doesn't necessarily leak. My maternal grandfather had a huge aortic aneurysm that he used to like to get us grandkids to feel. It felt like it was about the size of a softball. His doc told him from the time he was sixty that he needed an operation. He always refused the surgery and died peacefully at ninety seven aneurysm intact.

Did I answer your question to your satisfaction, Ella?

Are you aware that the condition she had, aortic dissection, would be greatly exacerbated by any stress?

Your turn to play doctor? Here's the real scoop, the stroke was caused by the aortic dissection only. There was no stress she was resting comfortably in La Grange until Mullinax seized his opportunity for face time and started dragging Mae around the South. You probably missed this.

I thought you were contending that she was "terminal?" That she was, in essence, dead already?

So you feel that people with 6 mos. or less are dead already. Fine. Don't pin that on me. I think she had more quality time left.

She was starved, dehydrated and drugged with morphine for ten days...

Mullinax says so? Give me a source other than one that uses him solely. The judge has already called his accusations false.

So which is it?

You also have a comprehension problem, I see. What part of IF don't you understand. You claim the granddaughter accelerated Mae's death by caring for her in the way she did. I say Mullinax's actions were more dangerous to Mae. IF anybody killed her it was Mullinax.
