British Parliament member to face oil-for-food accusers

(CNN) -- British Parliament member George Galloway will face his accusers when he testifies Tuesday before a U.S. Senate panel probing the U.N. oil-for-food program in Iraq.
Galloway is due to appear before the U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, which stated in a report last week that deposed Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein granted him vouchers for 20 million barrels of oil between 2000 and 2003.

Galloway is scheduled to appear late Tuesday morning in Washington as the final witness in a hearing that begins at 9:30 a.m. ET.

Galloway, 51, who met with Saddam several times in the 1990s, has been a leading critic of British Prime Minister Tony Blair and his alliance with U.S. President George Bush in the war with Iraq. He was re-elected on an anti-war platform earlier this month.

A new report from Democrats on the Senate subcommittee concludes the United States ended up with a majority of the oil lifted from Iraq after vendors paid illicit surcharges of 10 cents to 30 cents a barrel to Saddam.

The Democratic report found Bayoil shipped a lot of oil allocated to a company called Italtech run by Augusto Giangrandi, a sometime Florida resident with dual Chilean-Italian citizenship.

If they knew this hearing was only going to last a few minutes, then why in heavens name did they even do it? It gave galloway face time around the world to spout his anti-American propaganda. He will play well around the world.
I think you are dead wrong.
PR is not evidence, and that is what Coleman has in spades. Gallaway is guilty, period. That is why we got that little show. He cant argue the facts, so he wants to change the subject. When his ass is tossed in jail, PR wont get him out. It might make Liberals and the Media angry, but that wont get him out either. Coleman is a pro. Gallaway baited him, looking for a fight, but Coleman does not need to fight. In the end, when Gallaway gets locked up, it will be Coleman who has the last laugh.
As we could all see, the media had no interest in the case, but only in the fight. That is because there is no case. This is a slam-dunk against Gallaway. As for getting hammered, you have your President as an example of how to respond to that. Ignore it and do your own thing anyway.
I heard the MSNBC anchor..and the CNN Anchor say that Galloway had a very effective and blistering attack on Norm Coleman.
The MSM will play it up.

When I was watching it on CNN---and they went back to Wolf Blitzer, he was raving about what powerful testimony that Galloway gave---and how explosive it was!!!!!

I agree with your assessment re: the world's view will be that Galloway parried every thrust of Coleman's sword, but I think like someone else posted, that Coleman is just getting all of his statements on the record, so that later he can come back and point out the inconsistencies...
Levin repeatedly pressed Galloway on two issues---and even after Galloway sought to divert by blathering, Levin brought him back on both topics.
One was Levin asking Galloway to state flat out if a document showing Galloway was granted oil allocations was a forgery. Galloway pointedly refused to call it a forgery.
Second was the issue of Galloway's associate, Zacurat (sp?--I am familiar with the man but haven't had a chance to check back articles for spelling), and his illegal oil trading and kickbacks.
The day is young, it'll come. Hell newsweak out and out lied and the MSM is making excuses for the story.
It'll come before the days out.
They'll be using adjectives like never before to describe his belligerence before the committee.
He tried to throw dirt research .. like how Coleman received money for his campaign and trips from people associated with Israel

Will the media expose it when galloway goes to jail. The world has short term memory.
