The only effective solution is to stick the offending dog butt under the bathtub faucet and wash said dog butt with warm water.

You don't even need soap, but you do have to use your your unprotected hand and fingers.

Also, the cheap brand of Wal-Mart baby diapers works pretty well for geriatric dogs.

Once their cataracts get past a certain stage they do it whenever and whereever they please.

That is a really great idea - I never though of using diapers for old dogs. Do they tolerate it well? I actually have an old cat myself, who is fine, but well....ya never know. I don't know if I could successfully diaper a cat though.
