Democrats set to hear candidates, OK gay marriage (eye on the governor's race)(MASS)

With 15 years' worth of failed gubernatorial races behind them, Massachusetts Democrats are gathering in Lowell this weekend for the party's platform convention, where prospective candidates will take center stage and the state party is expected to formally endorse same-sex marriage.

The delegates will get to take the measure of three candidates who say they will probably seek the party's 2006 gubernatorial nomination: Attorney General Thomas F. Reilly, former federal civil rights enforcer Deval Patrick, and Secretary of State William F. Galvin.

Another potential candidate also emerged or perhaps reemerged this week -- US Representative Michael Capuano, who stepped back from a gubernatorial run early this year. ''I haven't shut the door at 100 percent," he said in an interview this week. ''I want to see how things develop."

Party leaders expect 2,500 delegates, more than the usual number that show up for conventions in a nonelection year. The draw this year appears to be in part the proposed plank that will endorse the legalization of same-sex marriage and make the state's Democratic Party the third in the nation to take such a position.

The plank is expected to be approved just three days before the first anniversary of the implementation of the Supreme Judicial Court decision legalizing same-sex marriages.

The move to endorse gay marriage in the platform is most popular among the liberal activists who dominate the convention and has the backing of figures as politically disparate as US Senator Edward M. Kennedy, a liberal leader, and Galvin, a moderate Democrat who has in the past drawn support from the more conservative wing of the party.

"The plank is expected to be approved just three days before the first anniversary of the implementation of the Supreme Judicial Court decision legalizing same-sex marriages."

OK Massachusetts.....let all the USA gays, lesbians and other sexual perverts move to and get 'married' to anyone, anything, any beast they want in your sicko socialist state. Leave the rest of us alone who would rather choose God's definition of marriage.. man/woman.

The Pilgrims must be rolling in their graves. And don't think that you can trash God's holy institution of marriage without consequence.

"Be not deceived, God is not mocked, for whatsoever a man sows that will he reap." If you sow to the flesh, you will reap corruption Galatians 6:7-8

The Rev. Sharpton will join 1000 homosexuals in marriage at a ceremony where 500 state rented portable public toilets will serve as honeymoon suites...

Plato said 'the many, as many, are ignorant.'

Was Freudian psychoanalytic theory of sexual stages in psychological development more accurate than accredited? The Michael Jackson Complex is fixation on mutilation of and deviance with human anatomy. It is a social psychosis catering to the lowest common denominator and generated with Pavlovian behavioral conditioning in popular culture.

Perhaps they could conclave to enshrine their own phantasmal state religion and consecrate Michael Jackson as its first ecumenical Pope!

Paraphrasing Iago from Shakespeare's Othello:

When devils will the blackest of sins put on, they do suggest at first with heavenly shows, as they do now.

They are of a free and open nature, that thinks men honest that but seem to be so, and will as tenderly be led by the nose as asses are.

Public toilets with Gloryholes cut in them LOL.

I cant help but wonder how many Democrats who dont believe in gay marriage will join the Republican party instead of being a member of a party of perverts.

Thankfully some Mass. residents get it (see below)...though the majority still re-elect Lurch and the Swimmer, and all those Dims in the legislature. No Dim elected gov. since Pee Wee Dukakis in '86, though.

This type of in your face nonsense that the Massachusetts democrats engage in strengthens their position politically. Anyone with any brains gets the heck out at the first opportunity, thereby diminishing the opposition and strengthening the rats near total control of the state. There is no organized republican party here and has never been one in my memory. Romney is only there because the voters don't want to loose prop 2 1/2. Same is the case with his predecessors. The memory of what total democratic control under Dukakis cost the state is fading fast. I think the rats hiatus on the governors office will be broken in 2006, and we will elect our criminal AG.

Then prop 2 1/2 is gone and the real exodus will begin.
