Sa far Ft Monmouth, NJ; Grotton, CT, Portsmouth Navy, Brunswick Navy and Ellsworth, SD.
Although I have sympathy for those who lose their jobs, this is a good thing. Too much money is wasted maintaining an inefficient basing system. Unfortunately, establishing and closing military bases is a politicized process, which sometimes supercedes military requirements. Congress set up these commissions to take the politics out of it or at least have a convenient whipping boy. I wish the Pentagon could run this process by itself.
How about it being a liberal trash can sprinkled with Rino's.
I'd like to know what foreign bases are closing.

this might be a good thing, temporarily.
With all the loss of jobs in these heavy Dem areas, maybe the Dem voters will wake up and realize they are getting screwed by the people they voted into office.
Kennedy/Kerry gone bye-bye?
Hey Mike: Great location to stage for deployments ... Speak Chinese? Mabuhay.
The prairie dogs re-inherit.
the northeast may be a liberal trash can sprinkled with rinos, but if remains part of the usa. unless you're telling me that the way a state votes should affect the protection it receives from the federal government?
or should we abandon the red states next election when the dems win?
Maybe it just means the base will handle a different job than they have now.... A switch of one kind of role for another.
Pure speculation. I didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn last night.
The 2nd District has been razor thin on deciding votes in the past four or five elections. Simmons had a difficult run last time. Maybe Rove planned this so Simmons could appeal the base closing and be a hero when the decision is reversed and secure this seat for years to come.
Maybe it means that they will change the base's "purpose"? Hopefully someone can educate us on this! :)
Ft. Bliss and Kirtland gaining, tho.
I saw that; I have trouble with pdf files. Computer challenged or something :-)
I was just reviewing the PDF file from your Post #83.
That sucks bigtime they are closing Groton. That is really going to hurt that region of CT.

Note to Maine - try ridding yourselves of your RINO Senators and develop a conservative attitude.
