Border Patrol told to stand down in Arizona
The Washington Times ^ | May 13, 2005 | Jerry Seper

U.S. Border Patrol agents have been ordered not to arrest illegal aliens along the section of the Arizona border where protesters patrolled last month because an increase in apprehensions there would prove the effectiveness of Minuteman volunteers, The Washington Times has learned. More than a dozen agents, all of whom asked not to be identified for fear of retribution, said orders relayed by Border Patrol supervisors at the Naco, Ariz., station made it clear that arrests were "not to go up" along the 23-mile section of border that the volunteers monitored to protest illegal immigration. "It was clear to everyone here what was being said and why," said one veteran agent. "The apprehensions were not to increase after the Minuteman volunteers left. It was as simple as that." Another agent said the Naco supervisors "were clear in their intention" to keep new arrests to an "absolute minimum" to offset the effect of the Minuteman vigil, adding that patrols along the border have been severely limited. Border Patrol Chief David V. Aguilar at the agency's Washington headquarters called the accusations "outright wrong," saying that supervisors at the Naco station had not blocked agents from making arrests and that the station's 350 agents were being "supported in carrying out" their duties. "Border Patrol agents are the front line of defense against terrorism," Chief Aguilar said, adding that the 11,000 agents nationwide are "meeting that challenge, head-on ... as daunting a task as that may sound." The chief -- a former head of the agency's Tucson sector, which includes the Naco station -- said that with the world watching the Arizona border because of the Minuteman Project, agents in Naco "demonstrated flexibility and resilience in carrying out their critical homeland security duties and responsibilities."

I'm so "reassured" by this; proof that out "government" is "protecting" us....NOT! Click on the link to see the very right-on assessment Tancredo makes of this situation!

So what can we do folks?

Write the whitehouse?
Write the congress?

Seems useless when MCCAIN/Kennedy have introduce a LITERALL amnesty program which would not only give ILLEGALS guest worker visas but CONVERTABLE visas to permanent residence and then citizenship after six years.

(BTW that six years is under the OLD immigration law, we have rolling amnesty now but after ten years.)

Well, the next Presidential candidate (from either party)that is pro-secure border/ anti-illegal immigration is going to beat at the polls.

Right now, our President and the other side of the aisle had made it clear that enforcing the law and protecting our borders is a joke.

LOL. If this is true (and I see no reason why it is not) then this is just another sign that the world has gone mad! Stark raving mad I tell you!

BTW odd how this occurs at the same time as Nickolodeon does a commercial by Linda Elerby that gives a slanted description of texas history which calls texas "mexican".

The MSM will not cover this story.

We do need to call congress. Reporters need to go to the border and start taping. Do the minute men have special ops, for just video taping?

I believe the ONLY solution to any of our problems, ie: borders, getting the type of government we want, Bolton getting thru the Senate, getting decent Judges, just a few examples, is to vote everyone OUT of office and elect all new....starting from the House of Reps right on thru to the White House, maybe and only MAYBE then, these 'rightous idiots in washington' will understand it is NOT them that makes the laws, its US, the PEOPLE!!!!

I do NOT intend on voting for the same people in my State of PA. No to Santorum, NO to Casey, NO to Sherwood, all new people, and if there isn't new on the ballot, I'll write my own name in....no more playing around!!!

"I do NOT intend on voting for the same people in my State of PA"

That is the only plan of action that makes sense, throw all of the bums out, every damn one and start all over with entirely new people.

Proof to the masses that neither side of the gubmint has any intention of protecting us. Only Tancredo seems to care. I am glad this is finally getting MSM attention.
