Border Patrol told to stand down in Arizona
The Washington Times ^ | 13 May 2005 | Jerry Seper

Posted on 05/12/2005 10:05:40 PM PDT by Spiff

U.S. Border Patrol agents have been ordered not to arrest illegal aliens along the section of the Arizona border where protesters patrolled last month because an increase in apprehensions there would prove the effectiveness of Minuteman volunteers, The Washington Times has learned.

I guarentee you, ANY Democrat they run on an anti-illegal-invasion platform wins in 2008.

Their base won't let them, so there is going to have to be different measures taken (I'm trying to word things very carefully).

Randy Graf, who is challenging Jim 'Amnesty Amigo' Kolbe in the 2006 Republican primary election, will be on Fox News Live at Noon EST. He will be discussing this issue as well as Jim Kolbe's politically-motivated meddling with the Border Patrol.

Mr. Tancredo, chairman of the Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus, blamed the Bush administration for setting an immigration enforcement tone that suggests to those enforcing the law that he is not serious about secure borders. "We need to get the president to come to grips with the seriousness of the problem," he said. "I know he doesn't like to utter the words, 'I was wrong,' but if we have another incident like September 11 by people who came through our borders without permission, I hope he doesn't have to say 'I'm sorry.' "

Well Mr. President...we're waiting.

PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Randy Graf wonders if it’s time for an “investigation.”

Cites ‘Washington Times’ article and wonders; “who’s giving these orders?”
“All I am saying is Congressman. Kolbe’s micro-management of the Tucson Sector of the Border Patrol is well documented and entirely consistent with the report in today’s Washington Times.

(Tucson) In his most critical statement to date, Randy Graf today criticized Jim Kolbe for “micro-managing” the Border Patrol through the House Appropriations Committee. Citing a ‘Washington Times’ article in which Border agents are quoted as saying they have been instructed to “stand down” and to keep new arrests to an ‘absolute minimum’ to offset the effect of the Minuteman vigil, adding that patrols along the border have been “severely limited.” Graf is convinced the situation is “out of control, largely due to the influence of Congressman Kolbe.”

The Graf campaign cites the following evidence that Congressman Jim Kolbe is excising undue influence in the Tucson sector.

1. The Tucson sector of the Border Patrol (as written in the appropriations bill by Congressman Kolbe) is the only sector in the United States that is NOT allowed permanent checkpoints. Graf’s position is that these “checkpoints” can be a very effective tool of the Border Patrol, without hurting local economies.

2. As recently as last week on KVOA Tucson’s NBC affiliate, Jim Kolbe threatened to withhold funding from the Border Patrol for violating the ludicrous “NO PERMANENT CHECK POINTS POLICY”, written in the appropriations bill. All the Congressman could say about the fine Tucson officers on KVOA TV was, “they’re’ violating the law” (by having permanent checkpoints).

3. A recent stinging rebuke of Congressman Jim Kolbe by the rank and file in the Tucson sector. “Kolbe endangers agents and hinders the security of this nation through his ridiculous appropriations bill restrictions on our traffic checkpoints” *Local 2544, Border Patrol, Tucson sector.

4. Jim Kolbe has joined forces with Democratic Senator Ted Kennedy to push for “AMNESTY” for illegal aliens. The bill is called the “Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act of 2005”.

“All these bad border policy decisions by Jim Kolbe is the main reason I decided he (Kolbe) needs to be replaced.” Graf concluded.

Randy Graf recently announced his candidacy to unseat Congressman Jim Kolbe, the eleven-term incumbent of Arizona’s eighth congressional district. Graf’s campaign has adopted the slogan: “Randy was Right”, referring to his call last year for securing the border. Fiscal responsibility, securing Medicare, Social Security and Veterans benefits are all issues that are important to the Graf campaign.

I'm not a bushbot, even though my vote went to Bush. But man, I sure feel like a hypocrite now. ( campaigning and telling everyone how 'great for the country' Bush was)

Patooey! Where's that bar of soap. LOL!

since the average American voter can only distinguish between two letters,

Ah yes....MORE dumbing down of America. Too bad most American voters are too blind to see that they are obligated to keep up with who they elected. Which is WHY the politicians get away with doing America dirty. NOT enough voices screaming bloody murder over the blatant in-your-face wrongs.

And for the R party pols, well hell....they don't worry too much about us right-thinking patriots. We're the minority next to the horde of sheeple.

If true, this is beyond stupid.

Yes, it would be criminal.

Does the WH or GOP have anything to say about this story ?

This is disgusting, although not too surprising. If you have enough money, you can buy just about anyone. I'm waiting for the heads to roll.
