Insurrection in a town of Ouzbékistan
TACHKENT - Insurrectionists took control during the night of Thursday to Friday of the administration of the area of Andidjan, a city of the east of Ouzbékistan, and of a prison with high safety, to AFP a spokesman of the organization of defense of the humans right Appelatsia indicated.
"Of the insurrectionists took the control of the administratioon of the area and of a prison with high safety, nobody knows who controls the city", the spokesman of Appelatsia declared, Faidjahon Zaïnobidinov.
Nearly 2.000 prisoners were released and a burned cinema and a theatre, according to Mr. Zaïnobidinov.
The authorities ouzbèkes were not reachable in the immediate future.

this BBC article, that prison holds a lot of people the government claims are Islamists who were "trying to overthrow the government."

Aren't you about a decade-and-a-half too late with this remark? Nowadays it is Islamist punks trying to overthrow a moderate government that is hosting our forces in the region.
President Karimov is just old Soviet commie who became a cruel dictator after SU collapsed. There is no free speech in Uzbekistan, no legal opposition , there is only poverty. They agreed to host US bases cause US paid for it, they are faaaaaaaar from being our allies.
However Islamists if in fact those rebels are Islamist, may be much worse.
