As Jacinta Garrett, a former prostitute, sat inside Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church, she offered a living testament to the biblical words of the Apostle James and a slain St. Paul vice cop. Both lived lives of works and faith and offered a hope of redemption to the hopeless.
Garrett, 30, a mother of two, was a hooker when St. Paul police Sgt. Gerald Vick arrested her last fall and persuaded her to break the cycle of drugs and prostitution and go straight.
"He told me he saw something in me that was better than that," Garrett said. "He was one of the first officers that offered to help change my life."
