Pastor resigns amid 'politics' flap: Members claimed ouster due to support of Kerry

Insisting his words and actions have been misunderstood and misinterpreted, a Baptist pastor accused of forcing the ouster of nine church members due to their political views resigned.

Chan Chandler, 33, of East Waynesville Baptist Church in Waynesville, N.C., told his congregation of about 100 last night that because the Bible teaches that a pastor should not be the cause of dissension, he had "no choice but to resign."

"For me to remain now would only cause more hurt for me and my family," Chandler said at a special business meeting called to address the dispute. "I am resigning with gratitude in my heart for all of you, particularly those of you who love me and my family."

"I am resigning with gratitude in my heart for all of you, particularly those of you who love me and my family."

Translation: The rest of you are morons for supporting Bush.

This pastor chooses a divisive parting shot while talking about trying to reduce the divisions. Typical liberal politics.

This pastor sounds like a doofus. Note that he says most of his members are registered Democrats, albeit "conservative" ones. If he had been doing his job over the years, they would have re-registered by now.

The message to reject the Rat party and vote Republican can be delivered very easily without criticizing church members who remain in the Rat party, or even who vote for the Rats. It isn't rocket science. You simply cite extreme examples of what the most prominent Rats -- the people who everyone knows are Rats, like Clinton, Gore, Kerry, Kennedy -- have said and done, making it clear that such people have a great deal of responsibility for the mess this country is in. You don't talk like this guy apparently did.

The Pastor is a conservative, the title of the article is misleading.

The controversy drew national attention after some church members went to media claiming the pastor had politicized abortion and homosexuality, declaring last October in a sermon that anyone who voted for Democratic presidential nominee Sen. John Kerry should "repent or resign."

Chan Chandler wasn't the one who made abortion ,and homosexuality a political issue. Was a moral/RELIGIOUS ISSUE LONG BEFORE THE PARTY OF DIVISIONS,DECEPTION,AND
NATIONAL DESTRUCTION decided there would be no better way
to secure power and realize their dreams of reconstruction
of America to reflect the failed Soviet Communist system
appropriated the religious to politicize the moral. Even a moron could see one cannot be an obedient Christian and
a Democratic Party politician at the same time.

I know. This sentence was from the article, not my opinion.

"The controversy drew national attention after some church members went to media claiming the pastor had politicized abortion and homosexuality, declaring last October in a sermon that anyone who voted for Democratic presidential nominee Sen. John Kerry should "repent or resign." "

This guy was a Bush backer and told his congregation that JF'n was a sinner. Suggest you read the article again.
