Democrats Protecting America From the 'Far Right' By Susan Jones CNSNews.com Morning Editor May 11, 2005

(CNSNews.com) - Democrats say momentum is on their side -- "public opinion is tipping our way," Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said in a message to friends of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

"I have been so energized by the tens of thousands of you who joined the DSCC to show Bill Frist and the rest of the Senate Republicans that whenever they pander to the far right, we will be there to make sure their actions do not go unnoticed," Schumer said.

Schumer mentioned Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist joining "that absurd Family Research Council telecast that labeled Democratic judicial filibusters as 'against people of faith.'"

He also expressed disgust at Pat Robertson's recent comment that in the grand scheme of things, activist judges are more of a threat to this country than al Qaeda.

"Senate Republicans do not have the courage to stand up to these far-right-wing extremists, but don't worry," Schumer said. "We will hold them accountable to the voters in November 2006."

Schumer called Senate Democrats "the last line of defense against the right wing's court-packing scheme"; and he pointed to the "latest opinion polls" showing that the public opposes the nuclear option (a rule change that would do away with judicial filibusters) by a 2-1 margin.

Press reports on Wednesday said Sen. Frist may schedule a vote on judicial filibuster issue next week.

Conservatives are demanding that the Senate do away with judicial filibusters once and for all, rather than negotiate a deal with Democrats who have threatened to shut down Senate business in response to a rule change.

Democrats are blocking President Bush's most conservative appeals court nominees now, rather than allowing Republicans to position those nominees for a possible opening on the U.S. Supreme Court.

What they should be doing is protecting people from getting broken bones from laughing so hard at their platform.

Right wing extremist court nominee = anyone who has actually read the Constitution.

Far right wing extremist court nominee = anyone who will rule according to the Constitution.

Reality check, Chuckie! Just because conservatives are upset with the GOP doesn't mean public opinion is "tipping" your way. If the GOP would keep their campaign promises and not worry about presidential aspirations or how they look in the media, you would no longer be the "party of no" and would be a "party no more".

More of these silly little mobs of angry RATS, like we saw throughout the 2000 election cycle. They also lost and it is time for them to go away.

The Republicans have sure written the conservatives off after the election. What the hell happened to the mandate? Right after the election, the RINOS couldn't move fast enough to the left because they were once again safe from the common folk of the party. I have news for Senator Dole and the NRSC. You are in for a big surprise by conservatives when you come calling for donations. I have reached a point where I no longer can support a body that is run by people who don't understand their base. The post election polls showed that morality was the single biggest issue with voters even including the War On Terrorism, but our senators act as if they must move to the humanistic left as quickly as possible. I might be able to forgive naivety but not stupidity.

I just wish the Republicrats would stand up and protect us from the godless Democrats.I have written the Mexicanmafia Colorado sent to D.C. and explained I cannot
respect any politician who claims to be a "good Christian"
yet hides behind a false wall of separation -and acts as if they are ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Any politician Catholic or otherwise who rebels against the teaching of his professed church must repent and seek Gods
approval before I can do anything but resist and oppose them.

Does he mean like that NY judge that just ruled that illegally obtained driver's licenses are valid?

Don't we get on planes and such with driver's licenses? Heck, who need a valid one?

I'd go to hell rejoicing if I knew for certain that I could send the two of them before me.
