Bullet from assault rifle winds up in supervisor's hood.

Police in Glens Falls say one of their cruisers was accidentally shot by one of their own officers.

Police officials say Capt. Stanley Wood was training with the department's new assault rifle when he fired a round into the hood of the supervisors' patrol car.

Officials say Stanley, a 33-year veteran of the force, was using one of the department's new AR-15 assault rifles during a training session at the department's shooting range.

The bullet came to rest in the car's engine compartment and no one was hurt.

Officials say no disciplinary action was planned.

Oh Come on.. COMEON!!

It was just a hole in a car. Not like he did something dangerous or reckless that could have resulted in the death of an innocent civilian or something.

For crying out loud, a little bondo, a little touch up paint and a round of beers paid for by the shooter and all is forgiven.

I mean, he's a trained professional. It's not like he doesn't know how to handle himself under stress when a dangerous piece of equipment like a semiautomatic assault rifle is in his hands....Jeeze!

AR-15

Isn't that technically a Kalashnikov. What happened to Smith and Wesson? I bet it was made in China.

Now the cop can practice his "They were driving right at me..." defense.

No, an AR-15 is more of a M-16 look a like

"Only cops should have guns."
Who made up that stupid rule?

(I have not seen that anywhere on the internet before, only here, it seems.)

Sarah Brady thinks only cops should have guns. She is an idiot, of course.

The AR-15 is an Armalite product, US-made, and similar to the M-16 made by Colt, although lacking select-fire capability.

Neither is much like the Kalashnikov AK-series weapons.
