When I was a kid I swallowed matches and once a small whistle. The whistle passed without incident....except some pain.

Every day, people swallow politicians' crap.
I bet there's a delayed effect; it can't possibly be harmless.

I knew an adult who swallowed the lines that John Kerry is qualified to be President of the United States, and that Hillary Clinton is an honest woman. He never passed them.

Well...there was this whistling sound, then the explosion and flame.... ;)I'm very happy to know that you, and hopefully your community, survived this event :-)
Just a wild guess, but I'm suspecting that your parents took a particular interest in your dietary needs and habits after that 'incident' :-)

My son swallowed a drill bit. Now *that* was really horrible for my mom. He was with her in the work shed, about three feet away. He picked up a drill bit and asked her what it was. She said, "It's a drill bit, honey." He said, "Oh," then tipped his head back and just dropped it straight down his throat! (Took about two seconds.)
My poor mom almost died! lol!

If you ever get the chance to see Johnny Fox (usually at renissance festivals) do NOT miss him.
He's very entertaining and very funny.
