i crochet and those are all the rage right now. They have yarn that is absolutely beautiful. Was thinking about making one for our granddaughter.
The only thing I heard about W's day tomorrow is that he'll be working with Congress on CAFTA, the Central American Free Trade Agreement, so it's possible he'll be there.

Age is a strange things some people at 40 are older than some at 70 and it is not just to do with health.
I get the impression some people think they ought to behave a certain way and think a certain way once they over 40.
I can never quite feel comfortable when I see pictures of tight, knee-length military boots and goose-stepping though.
Yes, it is something to see it in person.

BTW re. the way some women dress in East Europe.
though in recent years they are able to come around
some to west standards, BUT, it has been a different
world there. When I was there, no stores as we know
it. Only were little shops, no ads. of course. There
would be bill boards with Karl Marx and his sayings.
We can't compare what we have vs. that area, though
now getting a little more up to date.
I did not know that those scarves were "in" now, but then again, I haven't been "in fashion" since high school in the 70s!
I guess more than the scarf itself is that everything she has on is PINK, not being a lover of pink, myself.
The uniform appearance and the march itself is meant to look imposing and threatening.
If that dog is Barney I will eat my hat it is much too small and even though the cut looks similar to Barney it seems a little shorter indicating that maybe she has not got her full adult coat yet.

Is it cold over there? That is when they were in all the stores here. When I go to crochet sites, the ccarves seem to be very popular. Maybe if I started crocheting now, I would have it done by Christmas. I think the patterns are only 10 or 12 stitches across but they are long.
When I have seen news clips on British news of younger women in Russia they seem to be dressed in more modern dress than Putin wife was but maybe she feels she is too old to dress modern.
I understand from younger peole at work pink is in this year in Britain maybe it is worldwide
I'm glad you mentioned that many of these emerging leaders, young and old, have been British-educated. I was thinking to include that and it slipped off my keyboard.

Fox have just mentioned the hand gerade incident no further details but US agencies are assisting Georgian authorities investigating it.
Apparently it was thrown and hit someone in the crowd and fell to the ground it did not expload and no one was hurt.
It is suggested that maybe this was some sort of protest due to Russian bases in Georgia and hostile neighbouring countries etc.

Bush pushes Putin in Russia's Near Abroad

"It is a miracle of history," President George Bush said Saturday, "that this young century finds us speaking about the consolidation of freedom throughout Europe."
Bush uttered those words in the capitol of Latvia, a country that 15 years ago didn't even exist—its residents lived at the whims of the Kremlin. In attendance that day were the presidents of the other two new Baltic democracies, Estonia and Lithuania, which, like the host country, were erased from the map by the Soviet Union between 1940 and 1991.
All three young countries, despite living on Russia's northwestern doorstep and nursing unresolved disputes involving Russian ethnic minorities and national borders, are now full members of both the European Union and NATO.
Bush's words about the march of global freedom, worth reading in their own right, were doubly stirring because of the context. The American president was on his way to Moscow to participate in Russia's most important diplomatic event in years—the 60th anniversary celebration of the end of World War II. But rather than let a perturbed Russian President Vladimir Putin influence his itinerary, Bush chose to sandwich the ceremonies between two morale-boosting visits to democracy-hungry reformers in Russia's "Near Abroad."

BUSHES ENJOY NIGHT ON TOWN IN GEORGIA

TBILISI, Georgia - Laura Bush says the people of Georgia gave her a memorable gift — a rare night out on the town with her husband.
The famously homebound couple got a hearty welcome here, complete with acrobatic dancers, fireworks and miles of cheering crowds along the motorcade route. They were awe-struck by the hospitality, she said.
"George said last night, `Seldom do we have a night like that,'" Mrs. Bush said. "'We really got to have fun, stay in the downtown, go to a restaurant.' ... The dancing was unbelievable."

Yes, the young have for sure picked up the west dress.
I am 58 and I wear shorts or jeans but that age bracket
even somewhat younger, many arn't there yet.
It has been interesting to see the changing dress of my
many Russian neighbors. During most of 90s the standard
Russian clothing, in recent yrs. some older women now
wear slacks. A few older guys wearing baseball hats.
