My youngest sister lives in Yonkers and says that part of Bronx is VERY Albanian and muslim. Her son in law sold his deli to an Albanian muslim and "got the heck outta the neighborhood"!! That was two years ago.
We had quite a chat at the re-union last Fall, about the old neighborhood is just plain crappy now!
I remember the Bronx, especially North Bronx well from 55 years ago. Nice, very nice near the Botanical Gardens.
Oh, that cess pool!!
Delis and convenience stores too.
I'm a cop. Getting a fake badge is really easy. I have one. It's a necessity for us b/c if we lose our real ones, we are in trouble with the job. I ordered mine from a legit shop. I don't think they are illegal to have. It depends on what you use them for.
NEVER trust outer borough Italians when they discuss how "beautiful" their "old neighborhoods" were. Alot of the Eye-ties who fled Bensonhurst for Staten Island talk about how SW Brooklyn has "gone to hell" even though 1. it wasn't that nice when it was all Italian and 2. It looks THE SAME as it did 20 years ago except now with signs in Russian and Chinese.
Yonkers, btw, is still run by the American Society of Juke Box distributors, if you catch my drift. ;-)
Her son in law is part Greek and he was born and lived in the Yonkers area as well. His business was out near east Bronx. He was GLAD to retire a little early!!
Bump. This is truly scary!
Actually, the last area I lived in (Bay Ridge, Brooklyn) still had some elderly inhabitants of Scottish and Norwegian ancestry, scattered among the Irish, Arabs, Italians, Latinos and Greeks.
"During a search of Khoroshs home, agents discovered about 1,000 more badges, some resembling those of the FBI, Drug Enforcement Administration and New York Police Department, court papers said. Also found were six firearms, including semiautomatic pistols."
I got to hand it to the Bush family. For all their warts, they know intel and counter-intel.
Remember that notebook they recently seized? I have to wonder....
"It's a necessity for us b/c if we lose our real ones, we are in trouble with the job. I ordered mine from a legit shop."
What about FBI and Federal marshall badges? This is not just some businessman trying to earn a halfway honest dollar.
Wow! This is scary stuff!
I can believe that especially here in NYC. But air marshall badges too?? I really wonder what this guy was up to and who he was dealing with.
Oh no, I was not implying this guy is legit. Only that I could understand how he obtained such a collection. Too many people are afraid to ask for proper ID other than badges when confronted by LEO's. We have ID cards that go along with our badges and always keep them side by side. This is the case with the feds too. But while our job teaches us to be skeptical, the general public is too quick to believe people with only a badge.
My apologies. Sorry if I added to the confusion here. But what do you think about maybe a badge scanner for police stations? I realize it would be a hassle and get good cops red-faced now-and-then, but a fake badge market might not be a good thing.
Well, linguistic analysis of the names is still worth something. Now they claim it is a Russian immigrant [http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1401098/posts], just as per #21.
the only way to tell a real/fake badge is to melt it down and analyze the material it is composed of. at least i believe that is the only way. the way to really tell is by the ID cars, not badges. ours have chips in them that allow us to get into headquartes. never accept a badge without an ID card. and even then if the guy looks sketchy, ask questions. non-LEO's will get spooked.
HELLO!!!
