Wasn't Trent Lott the minority leader who allowed Daschle to institute that 60-vote rule for Judiciary nominees?
And wasn't Trent Lott the minority leader who allowed Daschle to have veto rights over the Clinton impeachment trial proceedings?

They underestimate the fallout from backing down on judges.I believe you are absolutely correct. These prima donnas treat us like the DNC treats blacks.
I believe they are in for the shock of their lives. There's not a damn one of them I'd vote for in 2008.

It's Mitch McConnel's turn once Frist steps down....Lott or anyone else can't stop that.

I wonder if Rummy's comment was the semaphore to Lott that a deal can be made to pull the rug out from underneath the Democrats 'compromise' minority veto power over judicial nominations. Which comment? Can you paraphrase or point me to it?

Valid points, both of you.
I'm beginning to wonder if we would be much worse off with Rats in charge.

I wish Republican leaders were half as determined about triumphing over Democrats, as they were about triumphing over other Republicans. I wish the Prowler was half as determined to dig up dirt about the rats as it is to quote unnamed GOP staffers. The Prowler has a terrible track record. Many of the stories it prints turn out to be false the next day.

I'm beginning to wonder if we would be much worse off with Rats in charge. I wish you all wouldn't say that; do you think we'd have ANY of the bills passed that Bush has gotten with Democrats in? Torte reform? Even discussing Social Security reform? Please, it's such an insult to the rest of us.
I'm sick to death of gutless career politicians!
Oh, but they're not gutless; all they are thinking about is themselves. As far as they are concenred, Bush is a lame duck and they are all maneuvering for 2006 and 2008.
But what they don't get is that WE are not "done" yet; we were denied a true victory -- a victory that WE had worked hard for -- in 2000, so we now consider Bush's second term the term he was suppose to get things done.
I had the most ridiculous conversation I have EVER had with a senator's staffer about just this thing; I told him that we were dead serious, that we want those judges -- and that they won't believe the hell that will reign down on them if they don't. And he still to this day does not believe me.
If Trent Lott wants to play these silly like high school games with this country and the power that we laid in their hands, fine; we, too, can seek "revenge" because of our "anger."
I will not vote for John McCain.
I will not vote for Richard Lugar.
I will not vote for Chuck Hagel.
Period.

The guy wasted years of GOP control approving huge Clinton budgets and let Clinton get away with murder on dozens of issues time after time... Gimme a break. Give me a break...those budgets were balanced and we had a surplus for the first time in generations.

And wasn't Trent Lott the minority leader who allowed Daschle to have veto rights over the Clinton impeachment trial proceedings? The vote to approve the rules for the Senate impeachment was 100 to zero. ALL 100 Senators agreed not to hear any testimony.

But the point is that Lott OFFERED it to him, after saying Clinton would never be impeached.

But the point is that Lott OFFERED it to him, after saying Clinton would never be impeached. The GOP would be the minority today if Clinton was removed. The voters voted for Clinton. They didn't want him impeached. We can both agree the voters were wrong, but Representatives are supposed to represent not dictate.
Until we come up with a better form of government we will have to endure the stupidity of the masses.

Currently, Lott has been exchanging e-mails with Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson, a moderate to conservative from Nebraska, who is not seeking re-election in 2006.Whoa... when was this announced? I continue to be amazed how some of you can be wound up into hysterics over unsourced rumors.

I will not vote for John McCain. I will not vote for Richard Lugar. I will not vote for Chuck Hagel. Period. Me either, FRiend, even if it allows a true Rat to win.
I am of the opinion that a hard-left Rat presidency will be the end of this Nation, with violent revolution to follow. Further, I consider this to be inevitable anyway.
I thought it was going to happen in 2000, but the USSC quelled it by not allowing Gore to steal the election. If Hitlery gets in, watch out for your family because all hell will break loose. Electing RINO's just keeps pushing the inevitable further into the future. I had high hopes for GWB and the Rep-held Congress, and I am sorely disappointed with all of them.

I dont tend to be an angry Republican but I agree with you ...if the Senate doesnt take this one on the Senators will be looking for a lot of thise cooling "saucers" they are so fond of, so they can find a place out of the heat
