But the point is that Lott OFFERED it to him, after saying Clinton would never be impeached.

The GOP would be the minority today if Clinton was removed. The voters voted for Clinton. They didn't want him impeached. We can both agree the voters were wrong, but Representatives are supposed to represent not dictate.

Until we come up with a better form of government we will have to endure the stupidity of the masses.

Wrong! The voters voted for Nixon in 1972--beat McGovern in a landslide. When he resigned with the threat of impeachment, he was villified by the (Democrat-controlled) press. Admittedly the press is still Democrat-controlled, but the word began getting out on the internet before and during the Clinton impeachment. I believe that had the impeachment been successful in booting (the less-than-majority-elected) Clinton from office, the voters would have been ambivalent about it, not outraged. I and almost everyone I know would have been overjoyed.

"We can both agree the voters were wrong, but Representatives are supposed to represent not dictate."

And presidents are supposed to be role models and always tell the truth under oath (and not under oath for that matter). He DEFINATELY should have been CONVICTED BY THE SENATE AFTER BEING THE ONLY ELECTED PRESIDENT IMPEACHED BY THE HOUSE. Representatives represent yes, but presidents aren't dictators. (Never mind the line it was "only about sex".)

I will not say the ugly things many here want to say about Trent Lott. He absolutely got stabbed in the back by some of our fellow Republicans. I hope his drive to get even, if there is one doesn't cause harm. I think he is more skilled than Frist in negotiating but i definitely hold it against him that he is the main one who agreed to a no-trial trial of our past perjuring president.
