Rep. Virgil Goode (R-VA) reintroduced his military on the border bill on April 28 with 34 original cosponsors. About This Legislation:
H.R. 1986 by Rep. Virgil Goode (R-VA) would authorize the Secretary of Defense to assign members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps to assist the Department of Homeland Security in the performance of border protection functions.

Status: 4/28/2005: Referred to the House Armed Services Committee and the House Committee on Homeland Security.

FAIR comment: SUPPORT: Border patrol staffing levels are unable to meet the challenges of America’s porous borders. The military should be allowed to assist the Department of Homeland Security in the performance of border protection functions until border patrol staffing levels are increased to a level capable of managing the border.

Cosponsors:

Rep. Rodney Alexander [D-LA], Rep. James Barrett [R-SC], Rep. John Boozman [R-AR], Rep. Kevin Brady [R-TX], Rep. Virginia Brown-Waite [R-FL], Rep. John Coble [R-NC], Rep. Barbara Cubin [R-WY], Rep. Note:McCain/Kennedy Expected to Unveil New Guestworker/Amnesty Legislation Senators John McCain (R-AZ) and Edward Kennedy (D-MA) are expected to introduce legislation this week that would create a new massive guestworker/amnesty program that would allow current illegal aliens to participate and eventually gain permanent legal status after paying a fine. This bill seeks to reward illegal aliens with amnesty AND put a monetary price on U.S. citizenship. U.S. citizenship is something to be earned, not bought! FAIR is monitoring this closely and will alert you when action is needed.

Why? Rep. Godde didn't backstab Tom Delay like tom tancredo for a few seconds in front of the liberal media lights.

Surprising to see 1 Dem co-sponsor, but actually the number should be zero: Rodney Alexander switched parties when he filed for re-election in 2004.

You're the #1 expert on FR, IMO, when it comes to that.

Well, I'm truly proud I've been voting consistently for Congressman Goode all these times! Go Goode go! How about Goode for president? I know he lacks funding. But he'd be quite a prez!

Oh for heavens sake.

I was not referring to your House member. Goode is very good, if you will. I'm talking about that weasel McCain.

So, to borrow a phrase, enough with the knee jerk reactions...

You responded to Cripple Creek's comment regarding my congressman. Your statement therefore did refer to my congressman since you did not specify, although that was not your intent. If you want to get snotty with people, please find a better reason.

I don't like this bill.

Federal troops are for international matters. This has a slippery slope facet that should make all of us pause and THINK instead of throwing the confetti right away.

In your case, any reason will do.

I'm not the one who caused the misunderstanding. And now you are being utterly graceless. Aren't there chat rooms where you can go for gratuitous flaming?

I'll try to find one for you.
