WASHINGTON (AP) -- Health care providers can charge the government for emergency care provided to illegal aliens beginning Tuesday.

How about billing the illegals themselves?
This is sick. I believe that there is no difference between the parties on this issue. We worked hard to give the Republicans power to do our will and now they pee in our ear and tell us it's rain. I will no longer work for a Republican. My time will be better invested in a third party candidate who will have the leverage to get something done. THIS IS BS.
$1 Billion will only be a good start to pay this bill. Based on everything that I read, it won't even cover California's costs.
The government has abdicated it's responsibility to secure our borders and we, the taxpayer will pay for a long time to come.
So the taxpayers' get stiffed instead of the individual health care provider? How about charge the criminals who came her "only to work" and who send 80% of their earnings back to Mexico? My guess is they can't get free health care back home, so why here?
The closest hospital to my home had to close its doors years ago due to the millions lost each year treating the CRIMINALS WHO HAVE ENTERED THIS COUNTRY ILLEGALLY!

What? What? Good grief... you must be a thoroughly whacked out conservative FReeper ??? ;-))
Maybe the rest of the country will finally wake up and see that this is not only California's problem, now that they're PAYING for it.
Vincente must be pleased with this decision. Guess the next push will be to get the sick and disabled to illegally immigrate to the USA.
This is a very, very BAD idea.
How 'bout just stopping the criminal invasion?
How 'bout severe penalties for companies that employ criminal aliens. Say 5 years in the pen and a $100,000 fine.
I expect these "jobs" the criminal aliens have, you know, the jobs legal residents won't do, would dry up very quickly if the employers were sufficiently afraid of hiring a criminal alien.
And one the jobs dry up the criminal aliens will most likely go home.
If an illegal shows up at a hospital, I'll be ready to immediately transport it to the border.
This opens the door to HORRIFIC abuse!! Who pays? WE DO! who SHOULD be paying are those who hire illegals for the cheap labor experience.
Another subsidy...
Hey! Lets all vote Republican next time so we can get some common sense back in the government. Right.
I'm beginning to share your views, eagles. I worked hard to get Republicans elected, and this is how they repay us? Clamp down on illegals!!!!! I'd rather pay a billion for more border guards and buses to ship them back.
They are also spineless in the senate, it seems the Democrats are still running the show. This is really sucks!

You got it! Every state will be affected by this sooner or later. Unfortunately, with 1-2,000,000,000 coming in yearly, we're likely to be nearly bankrupt before enough pressure is applied to our politicians to act. Corporate greed is tthe driving force here and our congresscritters are turning a blind eye.
I can't for one second understand that in a post 9/11 environment how we can ignore the invasion of illegals. We deny people Bic lighters on airplanes and search little old ladies at airports, but let potentially thousands of "unknowns" enter our country at will. We, as a country, will pay "Big Time" for our ignorance.
I'm with you guys. This two party crap isn't working, it's just the lesser of two losers.
Watch, not only do we have to worry about floods Mexicans comming for free health care, Millions of Canadians will be flooding across the border too!
The Federal government -- underwriting cheap labor wherever and in whatever form it may be found.
...the ...a ... then ... afterwards .. a ... the ... an ... some ... any
Nyner nyner nyner!!!
