If you right click and view "properties," you sometimes can see where the image is being stored. I didn't think of it until after the fact. I was in a state of shock.

If the pictures are hosted on sites like rotten.com, ogrish.com and consumptionjunction, why can't the mods just block all images from those sites?

There are kids who look at this site

You're absolutely right--we use AOL and my son can access FR even though we have the parental controls on his account.

if JR was charging $10 a registration or something then you could at least begin to entertain it. Well, now, there's a thought. It would lessen the need for freepathons too.

"Just wondering...when you say everyone has them in their cache, did you have to be pinged for that to happen, or do you have them just because you logged on to FR? And do you have to have opened that particular thread?"

The instant your computer "sees" an image, that image is stored in your temporary internet files. If I were to go in files right now, the image would be there. Yes, you had to open the thread. If you didn't see the image, your computer didn't either.

I guess I've missed the action, as usual.

As far as people being anonomous on the net, there are lots of ways to do that.
All one needs is a proxy server, and there are lots of those all around the world. there is a Russian site which provides a daily list of them. using a proxy program, the user just types in the ip adress of several of them, and every post gets a random proxy ip number, rather than your own.

But, there is a way to find this guy. his email which he registers with will have his correct ip# in the header. most email servers will NOT let you make an account with a proxy server.
I don't know if FR keeps that origional email registration stored, but that is where I would look to find his IP#

On a dial-up connection, everytime one dials up a new IP is generated. So when I dial-up, say, and after my cookies are deleted, I click on FR and I can see FR, I click on "log in" and give my SN and PW. It (IP) would be different each time. So, is the IP checked or verified with the previous click, during each new click on FR after logging in? Or is it just lodgged?

But how many people between your quiet admin ping and the response by the admins posted 50 to 100 responses, including pinging another 50-100 people to the deed? People here just can't be quietly effective. They've got to respond and sometimes with responses that are just as pithy as the original offending post.

I saw one of the photos for the first time today. It showed someone with their hind end in the air shooting liquid up and back on their face. Did it offend me? You know, I can't say it did. It wasn't appropriate for the forum and as I said should quiety without comment removed. But I don't get my panties in a wad over something like that. It's just inappropriate.

Maybe we should create a subpage of all this junk to show what the crazies are made of that's away from the general forum but is a wall of shame for the people who try to infect us.

I mean it's not like it would be life threatening to wait a bit for you, your IP, and your e-mail address to be checked out by the admins before you can become a poster here at FR. I lurked for years before I finally signed up. And if I'm reading FR from somewhere I've never posted from it's not like I will die if I couldn't reply.

I don't know if user accounts can be limited to a list of specific IP addresses or not. Of course, if a user is legit, his IPs wouldn't have to be limited at all.

Cool, this would help deny the 'random IP generator' that Final Authority described.

There are people on dialup who get dynamically assigned IP, and who travel and get somewhat random IP.

And since it's not viable, the attacks will continue. If not this person, then someone else. I thought conservatives could exercise self control?
