Time to prosecute the Free Republic vandal outright. (Vanity)
today | By Lazamataz

Posted on 05/09/2005 5:54:33 AM PDT by Lazamataz

There is an internet vandal who defaces Free Republic with very gross pictures (homosexual sex and stuff from rotton.com) as well as posting "ALL YOU F***** N*****S & JEWS SHOULD BE LYNCHED".

He pings a variety of people to his post, ensuring that the trash is still in their My Posts lists.

To me, this isn't the milder form of harassment that Eschoir engaged in so many years ago. The very worst he would do is ask if you ever committed sodomy, and he once used the screen name "Paula Jones Tw*t". This is mild.

What this sick piece of work is doing is much more egregious. I believe it crosses the line into criminal defacement and restraint of trade. Are there any Free Republic lawyers (especially prosecutors) who can address this issue, and are there any private detectives with internet savvy that will help track the identity of this person down?

That's a job for a .410 bore Mossberg.

A Smith & Wesson beats four aces every time.

my question is: Now that I clicked on my "ping" page, these photos are now a permanent part of my internet cache (you don't ever really erase everything, do you?) What if these, for whatever reason--say I went missing 3 days before my wedding but had really run off to Vegas on a bus--were found by authorities looking at my computer?

Hey what the heck. If it didn't rile so many people up, then James 54 and those like him would simply go away. They do it for the response. And what do we do? Feed that need for response. The photos should be ignored and quietly deleted without the fanfare that the poster is looking for. We're feeding the beast instead of starving them.

This merely demonstrates how sick homosexuals really are and why most are only a step away from pedophilia or child rape. Most people have been duped into thinking that the Will and Grace show represents the homosexual world--this filthy degenerate posting is closer to the truth.

He probably uses a random IP generator. It could be difficult to get a fix.

I haven't seen the pics today, but I can make a guess, based on last time. "Tubgirl?"

The victims and the Corporation (Free Republic.com) would perhaps have standing to bring an civil action sounding in tort law, the tortious interference in business (restraint of trade), defamatory damaging of business reputation, and on the personal level, intentional infliction of emotional distress.

FR isn't a money-making entity so I see the above going exactly nowhere.

Probably the key thing is to limit comments on the guy's posts to mail to admins and not starting long threads like this filled with outraged comments; this gives the guy precisely what he wants.

This is a viable option until you consider that you need everyone on the exact same page, and that will never happen. So then it becomes non-viable.

If I don't let you speak on my soapbox, I'm not violating your first amendment rights -- you certainly have the option of setting up your own soapbox.

I don't disagree at all. But the issue of this thread is not whether or not we can ban him - the issue is whether he did anything for which he may be prosecuted.

Then I hope you've got the number of a good cyber-rights lawyer.

Not hard to do, but also not hard to catch, providing they are using the same IP address.

Proxy, proxy, proxy. A proxy server can conceal a real IP, thus, your identity. There are anonymous proxy servers listed at Google among other search engines. Hotmail and other free e-mail services can be used for registration.

That's not the purpose of this thread. The purpose of this thread is to get lawyers input on a possible criminal prosecution of this individual.

I'm not even really mad.

I'm just resolute.

Don't be an idiot.

First, it isn't "whining" to complain about these photos. If you think it is, you either haven't seen them, or you see that sort of thing every day.

Secondly, a 'filter' won't work against someone who has a different screenname every time he does it.

I do think this is an obvious attention-seeking ploy, and this thread may encourage the bugger to continue.

Just a theory- I'm using kindergarten pop psychology because obviously that is what we are dealing with.

He's been posting this drek for more than a month and a half. Anonymity has not dissuaded him. Early on, I (and the others affected) quietly pinged the admins to yank 'em. But after a point, being quiet does no good.

It's time to shine some light on the dark places to remove them.

Being quiet permits him to continue his nefarious activities in silence and without notice. He needs to be brought out into the open and dealt with.

Good point Joe. I think most of us know that shock value is the intent. If the homophiles continue to promote their filth, eventually people become jaded (a step away from tolerance) to seeing such activity--this is a huge part of their agenda and why they are constantly pushing the queer parades.

"Also, I think JR could automatically block any images coming from those domains that host the pics or set up a filter that would identify certain pic names and auto delete them."

That might work with rotten.com and a few other sites. The problem is that images like those often get posted all over the 'net, and may well exist on hundreds of servers, if not more.

I'm on a few other forums, mostly technical ones. They use a system that tracks how long a poster has been online and how many posts that poster has made, assigning additional privileges as the poster is on the forum longer. New posters get few privileges, and are not allowed to post images. Once they prove themselves as assets, privileges increase.

Perhaps it's time to implement some such hierarchy here on FR. Sad.
