Microsoft needs to STFU, the gays already have more than adequate protection.

Critics, including employees who said they were told that Microsoft would back the bill, said the decision to withdraw support had been made under pressure from a local evangelical preacher who threatened to boycott the company if it supported the legislation this year. Company officials have disputed the accusation.

I read about this earlier. That scenario doesn't make a maddog bit of sense to me -- Microsoft shaking in its boots because of a local church no one had heard of outside of Redmond, WA? Whatta crock.

IMHO, the Gay-stapo used the insignificant church's threat to rally its forces against Microsoft.

Republicans should not be defending Corporate America, they should side with small businesses.

It's corporate America that pushes PC facism and intolerence to Christians. Corporate whores are often Godless people. IMHO

Corporate America generally pushes whatever sells their product. They generally could care less about PC and are more a reflection of the PC environment.

There are exceptions, of course.

While there is obviously a great deal of tension in Microsoft's begrudging support of gays, the gay community doesn't seem to have any bigger endorsement than the one they continually get IBM, listed as #2 in this list of gay-friendly businesses.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4161255.stm

I'm surprised you didn't already know, as much as you constantly defend IBM on this forum, but they are not only the tech leader in gay employees, they actually specifically cater to them by placing targeted advertisements in gay magazines. Check out some of this stuff, including their own "out and proud" brochure:

Once again, your blind hatred of Microsoft clouds your judgement beyond all hope of reason.

Pastor Ken Hutcherson, a former player for the Seattle Seahawks, carries a lot of clout around here.

IBM is pro-gay? That stinks. I've just submitted a job application to work for them. Now I will need to decline any offers I might get if what you've said is true. Otherwise I'd be a hipocrit.

Apparently they are a huge supporter of gays, according to the links I found. All I did was go to Yahoo and enter "IBM gay" and that stuff poured in. Good luck finding work elsewhere, besides, according to this IBM is laying off over 10,000 at the moment due to questionable business decisions that have backfired.

No kidding, there's no "need" for this under any scenario. If I was a MS stockholder I would definitely speak out in opposition to the company wasting resources on this extremely questionable cause. If Gates or Ballmer want to take up the cause with their own monies, fine, but leave the company out of it.

As a shareholder of both IBM and Microsoft, I personally only care about one thing---stock price...if there stance on the gay issue raises the price, fantastic, if it hurts the price, then I am upset.

Don't look to corporations to set the tone of the social culture of this country....it ain't their job and it shouldn't be.

You guys are starting to sound like a bunch of da*n liberals with all this whining about what businesses do. If they have to play the PC game to make money, then they better play it, otherwise noone will invest in them. If, on the other hand, it becomes more profitable not to cowtow to the PC crowd, they will do it...

But please, for the love of everything sacred---STOP THE WHINING!

That's exactly how I feel. If I was "whining", it was because some companies are trying to do that, and many have been for some time.

By the way, are you a Southern Miss grad?
