" The goal is to create a impenetrable barrier that keeps the powerful blast and radioactivity locked up tight inside the earth, The New York Times reported. " Almost impossible. And oh yeah, it's a comment by NYT, and they see a version of 'truth' humble folks like to call plain lies.

And so this would mean that the nuke is already in place?
It would seem that the time to act is now.
Lets get it all over with. - Better on our terms that the terms of our adversaries.

Its actually an old an accepted method of underground testing. We have done this ourselves on American soil. More importantly at this point I would "suggest" we give the NPRK a final ultimatum. Cease and desist all activity or face imminent destruction. When the Chinese start to whine I would also "suggest" that they heed the warning as well. I would hope the lack of press coverage on our Star Wars program is an indication of deployment in that theater. If that is the case perhaps we could keep "anything" from flying as a demonstration. I suppose we should wait for them to test their puny device first just to keep the peaceniks, "dirty brown rice eating hippies", at bay.

Underground testing is old, but sealing all radiation and/or hints of a test preparation isn't possible. Even when India tested their nukes, they escaped unnoticed simply because they somehow(?) got hold of US satellite trajectories, and performed the test at a time when no surveillance satellite was overhead.
I don't think there will be even a moment of time without some American surveillence equipment monitoring North Korea.

My opinion? The North Koreans already filled this tunnel with High Explosives from a side tunnel and will detonate a few thousand tons of conventional explosive underground then claim they have a nuke.

How did India get ahold of our satellite trajectories?
Is that normal?

I think scientists in the surrounding coutries will be able to determine fairly easily whether or not is a nuke...but that is just a guess.

The minute that thing goes off..the libs will claim it was necessary to keep Bush from taking over North Korea. And the minute North Korea uses a nuke against Japan, Australia, or the Western U.S., then it's Bush's fault for not invading North Korea when he had the chance.

they escaped unnoticed simply because they somehow(?) got hold of US satellite trajectories, and performed the test at a time when no surveillance satellite was overhead Actually, they hid their preparations from us by covering up their work at the necessary times. The test itself was detected right away.
The Indians aren't stupid, and they're technically very adept. It would be easy for them to identify which sunsych satellites were our spy birds. The only way you can really deal with that stuff is to either keep shifting your flyover times (very expensive in terms of propellant) or to have so many flying over that it does them no good to hide from any given satellite.
