Its actually an old an accepted method of underground testing. We have done this ourselves on American soil. More importantly at this point I would "suggest" we give the NPRK a final ultimatum. Cease and desist all activity or face imminent destruction. When the Chinese start to whine I would also "suggest" that they heed the warning as well. I would hope the lack of press coverage on our Star Wars program is an indication of deployment in that theater. If that is the case perhaps we could keep "anything" from flying as a demonstration. I suppose we should wait for them to test their puny device first just to keep the peaceniks, "dirty brown rice eating hippies", at bay.

Underground testing is old, but sealing all radiation and/or hints of a test preparation isn't possible. Even when India tested their nukes, they escaped unnoticed simply because they somehow(?) got hold of US satellite trajectories, and performed the test at a time when no surveillance satellite was overhead.

I don't think there will be even a moment of time without some American surveillence equipment monitoring North Korea.
