BALTIMORE -- There is a new effort to unravel Maryland's political mystery -- who is MD4BUSH, the Internet name of whoever communicated with Gov Ehrlich's aide Joe Steffen about Mayor Martin O'Malley's personal life.

I-Team lead investigative reporter Jayne Miller said Steffen is behind the new push to find the answer.

*snip*

In his letter, Steffen's lawyer specifically seeks MD4BUSH's account information at Free Republic.com, which would include an e-mail address and server records that could reveal clues about the locations from which MD4BUSH logged in.

*snip*

Miller said Free Republic.com's operator has suggested he'd like to reveal information about MD4BUSH -- saying publicly when the whole story broke, he was "almost hoping to receive a subpoena." Miller reported that could happen if Steffen sues to get the information he seeks.

Well, posting them is against FR rules and netiquette, but other than that, oh well.

Wow.

Send me a freepmail I'll then post it in the open.....and then I'll have a reporter write a story based on that freepmail....then you lose your job.

Wonder if you will still be saying...Oh Well.

You seem to be missing the point. Was there a law broken? The Freeper person might have been better off not responding to those emails, huh?

Whose career was ruined? The mayor or the freeper?

Against FR rules? Netiquette? You're kidding, right?

The weak of mind and spirit or the outright malicious love private replies, since those allow them unfettered license to say anything. I reject most of them.

If someone can't make a statement in the open forum, specially critical ones about anyone, I'm ignoring them. Without exception.
As for divulging them in open forum, I do it every opportunity I get! Why should the rats get special leverage? If they want confidentiality, they should go to confession.

Are you suggesting that freepmail, either abusive or downright stupid is privileged?
You would need to have the judgement of a zucchini.

If you can't say it in open forum, perhaps you should keep your mouth (figuratively) closed.

I don't know the whole story, but from what I'm gathering MD4Bush did wrong. Still, the idea that users should remain confidential is more important then that (IMO). So, I'd like to see Jim R fight this tooth and nail, even though we might all wish to expose MD4Bush's dirty dealings. If I recall correctly he impersonated someone to expose the aide of Gov Elriche.

"IMHO we've been getting a lot of new 'protectionists' who've been panning Bush and saying how great Clinton was. Same for all the new immigration bush-bashers."
Can you point out someone who has posted pro-American comments and objected to the President's pro-illegal immigration position who has posted pro-Clinton commnets?
I think you are seeking to pull a lib switch and imply that whoever is against illegal immigration and exporting of jobs is pro-Clinton.The move is to obvious. Head to a pro-Communist China training camp and learn your tactics better. FR users are a little smarter than you surmise.

Why are abusive and stupid speech not given the same guarantees as any other speech? What you may find as abusive and stupid may make perfect sense to many others.
In this nation you may make all of the stupid and abusive speech you wish as long as you don't threaten.

If that were the case, we wouldn't have civil penalities for slander and libel :)

You were speaking of abusive and what you called stupid speech.
Slander and libel are well defined in law. If you meant slander and libel you should have posted as such.

When folks sign on here it's in the hope that most of this information will remain confidential and not be handed over to the government.

When folks sign on here in order to USE FR for political dirty tricks, I feel that they lose any right to "confidentiality". But, then, it's Jim Rob's house and it's his decision to make. And it probably isn't an easy one.

All I'm saying is you needed to add as long as you don't libel and/or slander in addition to threaten :)

I'm about as Anti-Klintoon as you can get. I'm also 100% against illegal immigration. And as far as exporting jobs, it's just plan wrong. If we have to do it, do it to Mexico to increase their jobs and decrease their illegal immigration. India's not our friend, why should we bolster their economy???

I guess I fit in with your mold, and not to the other person's.

Paul

Are you saying that anyone who isn't down the line with Dubya on open borders is a Clinton troll?
