Sex-ed program pulled from year's curriculum

Published May 6, 2005

Montgomery County Public Schools yesterday halted a new sex-ed curriculum that was to have begun today, after a federal judge ruled in favor of a lawsuit that charged the course is unconstitutional and promotes homosexuality.

U.S. District Judge Alexander Williams Jr. had granted a 10-day temporary restraining order yesterday to halt the teaching of the new course.

"I have directed the office of the deputy superintendent of schools to review and evaluate the materials referenced in the judge's order," Superintendent Jerry D. Weast said, "...before any decisions are made about any future pilot testing of the revised curriculum in our schools."

Mr. Weast also said that he is suspending the use of "Protect Yourself" -- the video where a woman demonstrates condom use with a cucumber -- pending further investigation by the schools.

Judge Williams agreed with the two groups that filed the lawsuit -- Citizens for a Responsible Curriculum (CRC) and Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays and Gays (PFOX) -- who argued that the curriculum is biased toward homosexuality and dismisses religious perspectives on the subject.

Montgomery County Public Schools "open up the classroom to the subject of homosexuality, and specifically, the moral rightness of the homosexual lifestyle," the judge wrote in his decision.

"However, the Revised Curriculum presents only one view on the subject -- that homosexuality is a natural and morally correct lifestyle -- to the exclusion of other perspectives.

"The public interest is served by preventing [school officials] from promoting particular religious beliefs in the public schools...

lol that 's about what I was thinkin when I heard this on the news.
Schools need to get back to teaching the basics, and "sex ed" should go back to being a sex-segregated personal hygiene/health class instead of promiscuity 101.
It's a messed up world when on the one hand kids are taught anything goes as long as you don't get a disease, yet have sexual harassment rules against stuff like "staring at someone too long".

It is easy to explain why this is happening all around the country. Homosexuals have an agenda and the people that oppose their agenda don't! They just sit and yell at their TV set, radio or newspaper.

Write letters, send emails, contact your newspaper. Send money to groups that oppose the homosexual agenda like the Thomas More Law Center, the Alliance Defense Fund or The Traditional Values Coalition OR sit back and watch the homosexual agenda succeed.

Sadly, Montgomery County is probably not the only place in the US where this curriculum is taught. At least there, some parents complained about it and fought it out. In most places, parents either don't know or figure they can't do anything about it. So congrats to Montgomery County parents!

This program has been dropped from this years curriculum the headline reads. Be ready folks it will be back. Liberals and their fruit friends arent going to drop it altogether, They will wait while citizens pat themselves on the back and they will sneak it in next year so fast you heads will spin.

Dont think you have won and rest on your Laurels, They will be back next year.

Be ready folks it will be back.

Remember, people who promote homsexuality are organized and have long term plans. They use Lenin's tactical rules - one of them is "retreat one step in order to advance two steps".

Homosexual Agenda Ping - See, doing something can work.

But a 10 day restraining order doesn't sound like a solid victory. I hope the news is good later on as well.

Memo - PULL your kids out of public school YESTERDAY.

The consequences of staying in government indoctrination centers can ruin your childrens' lives. And you'll live to regret it the rest of your life, wishing you could do it over.

Let me know if you want on/off this pinglist.

Exactly, we cannot sit back and hope this spreads, either. We need to get the agenda out of schools once and for all!!

Seems to me when I was growing up there were laws, like "contributing to the delinquency of a minor" and "currupting the morals of a minor". Where did these laws go?

Perhaps a petition of Citizens of Montgomery to have police charge the Supt. of Schools with contributing to the delinquency of a minor might wake that person up.

I haven't heard those laws sited for quite some time. Wonder if they even exist anymore. Now that a case has actually gone to court, maybe (hopefully) other districts in other states will follow. Perhaps people who think we, on these threads, and in conservative media, are alarmists or homophobes, will open their eyes!

I'd say you nailed it very concisely.

Today's sex ed probably doesn't show the true face of teenage sex, such as photos of up close and personal genital sores, warts, lesions, etc. nor discussions with women who are now sterile because of untreated chlamidia or those who are FOREVER cursed with herpes, nor does it probably convey the used and discarded phenomena of casual sex as in the emotional damage done, nor does it show the realities of caring for a demanding infant that stands in the way of all teenage fun you used to have, etc. etc.

If sex ed REALLY WAS education on the REALITIES of sex then I might think it was a good idea.
