I'll bet that cellar smells!

Now, if Miller's resurrected on Sunday, we're in great shape.
The last time the Yankees were in last place this late in a season, it was June 20, 1995, and Jeter was playing for Class AAA Columbus after a brief trial in the majors. That team recovered to win the wild card and start a 10-year playoff run, but the streak may be in jeopardy.
Good thing that the Yankees have Robinson Cano to play the part of Jeter and help lift his team to the playoffs...
It's been a really fun start to the seaon. Arroyo and Clement have been hot and if Shill and Fatso can get healthy, they'll win 100 games.
The Yankees are making to exact same mistakes the Cowboys made in the 1990s, they ended up keeping way too many guys who were pivotal pieces of their championship years, way past their prime. And this is what happens, when it collapses, it collapses quickly.
It makes the Braves' 13 straight Division titles look all the more amazing, despite the fact that they have only one World Series to show for it.
Nope . . . sorry to burst your bubble, but it's an indication of how bad just about everyone hates the effing Yankees.

It's the Gayrod Curse. Seattle got better when Gayrod left. Texas got better when Gayrod left. Now Gayrod's going to destroy the Yanks.
Sorry, that other league doesn't exist to me until October.
Seattle is presently 5 games out of first, and 4 games under .500.
I am not slamming A-Rod for the Yankees woes. I am simply stating that it seems his teams don't do well until he is gone. Is he a distraction? Is he a disruption?
As for the Yankee woes, they can be placed squarely on the desk of George Steinbrenner. Poor moves and signings, a la Jaret Wright, and zero farm system. Witness they had a Double A pitcher called up to start in place of an ailing Randy Johnson. Double A? What does that say about the farm system?
And A-Rod did not leave Seattle last year, so your suggestion that they are doing worse without him is rather a stretch of a few years. Actually, the major portion of the Mariners short-lived success was after A-Rod, Ken Griffey, Jr. and Johnson were all gone.
The only question is their endurance. Can their rotation give them the 200+ innings each to get through the season?
How many of those RBIs will really matter. There is one stat that counts in baseball, and that is how do you do when you have the opportunity to bring runners in from scoring position. That determines whether or not you win games or not. The great players consistently come through, A-Fraud has proven throughout his career, that he is not very good when it really matters. Not saying he isn't a good, or even great player. He's just not worth nearly the amount of money he's paid, considering the impact he has on the rest of team. Good players make the guys around them better, A-Fraud makes them worse.
I wouldn't mind if both of them took the entire month of May off to get healthy, because we're going to need them come August.
Not to mention Kevin Brown. That guy is long overdue at the glue factory.
Not according to "Moneyball" . . . i.e., there's no such thing as "clutch" hitting.
YEAH, RIGHT!
Suzyn Waldman?
A favorite quote from her:
"Highlight From Thursday's Post-Game Celebration: YES network reporter Suzyn Waldman tried to get a good quote out of Gary Sheffield by asking him, 'How does this feel? It's been a long time for you.' Yeah, it's been as long for him as it's been for Derek Jeter. The guy was on the Braves' NL East-winning team in 2003."
He doesn't give a damn about the W. Sox, but this is the first time the guy has called me up (as opposed to his sister) in the 31 years I've been married to his sister.
He's both. A-Rod is a great player, but, because of his astronomical salary, ownership caters to his every whim. He was vetoing trades the year before the Rangers cut him loose!
He reminds me of a couple of my clients: they produce revenue, but they're so demanding they're not profitable to the company.
I got your back on this, NYCV. A-Rod has been playing just fine. He does need to get more walks and steal more bases to really earn that paycheck, though.
When you've got a 900-pound gorilla living next door, you keep an eye on him.
And the #1 obsession right now in Boston is the starting pitching, not the Yankees. Trust me. You think that you're the #1 obsession because the only news the NY sports media report from Boston is Boston's commentary about the Yankees. Read through the Boston sports media and blogs (www.soxaholix.com is a good example for the latter, as is www.bostondirtdogs.com) and you'll see we've got a lot more on our minds than the Spankees.
