The O's are hot right now but I think (hope?) their pitching will fade. That pitching staff is a collection of 10-12 game winners and generally that doesn't get you playing baseball in October.

It's just astonishing to me that people would blame the Yankees' season on a player who's batting over .300, with a league-leading 10 homers and 28 RBI.

Rodriguez was leading the league in homers and batting average when he played for the Rangers, too. His attitude and undermining of management wrecked the morale of the team.

True, the Yankees have a talent deficit right now. When A-Rod starts trashing Torre to the press, look out.

He's done it everywhere he's ever been.

The Mariners traded A-Rod (to your Rangers) after the 2000 season and then proceed to have the best regular season in the history of baseball the following year.

The 1906 Cubs (.763) and 1954 Indians (.721) both had better regular-season winning percentages than the 2001 Mariners (.716). Your point is taken, though.

The bigger the bats the higher ERA a staff can carry and still be successful. I think we'll all be surprised at just how powerful this offense is by the end of the season.

Just opposite of the way the Baltimore Ravens won the Superbowl but it can be done.

Still, it is a long season so I am happy but still reserved about how far they will go.

The Yankees have real problems and it may be to late to fix it this year.

ARod has been hot, but of his 28 RBI 16 came in two games. I watch a lot of games. I don't know the stat but I have to wonder how many of ARod's RBI tied a game or put the Yanks in a lead? I don't think it is very many.

How many times did he come up as the tying / leading run (or with those runs on base) and not get the runs in? That has happened plenty.

Don't get me wrong, I love having him...but I am not sold on his ability to drive in clutch runs. Right now he looks, to me, like a player who makes 8-2 games 8-4 with a two run homer....ya know?

I'm not a Yankee fan at all, but slamming A-Rod for the Yankee's woes is pretty lame.

Seattle is presently 5 games out of first, and 4 games under .500.

Did you forget that a large part of Seattle's wins can be easily attributed to that hitting machine named Ichiro? He scores a lot of runs, but still fewer than A-Rod.

The Sox always had hitting: Williams, Yaz, Rice, Fisk, George Scott, Mo Vaughn, Boggs, Evans and on and on and on. It never got them anywhere. It wasn’t until they had Pedro and Shilling and a decent bullpen that they finally won a WS.

Hell, the last time the O’s in the WS, they had three twenty game winners.

The Yankees offense certainly gets it's share of blame. Their numbers (Arod's in particular) are bloated by that 19 run game, as well as one or two other blowout wins.

ANYONE who watches them daily can tell you ARod time after time after time does not get the big hit when needed.

Yes, the Yankees 1 through 4 hitters (Jeter, ARod, Sheffield and Matsui) are the best in baseball (although Matsui's been awful the last two weeks). Just those guys alone make them look like a good team. But beyond them, it's one of the worst teams in baseball. The oldest, worst fielding, most washed-up collection of insane contracts you've ever seen. Pitchers and hitters.

We here in Texas could have told you guys that before he became Steinbrenner's problem. With the Rangers, he barely hit above the Mendoza line with runners in scoring position. Plus he poisons the clubhouse. Oh well, the Rangers loss is the Rangers gain, considering how they've done since he left.

Still, they are his numbers. It's not like he has 28 RBIs at the midpoint of the season.

If he stays healthy, he'll have a combined 250 runs/RBIs.

A-Rod is awesome.

Honestly, I hate the Yankees, but I fully expect them make the playoffs, or at least come close.

Just winning 8 of 10 games in the near future changes things. They can do that.

The Mariners traded Griffey and they got better. Then ARod left and they got better. Finally they dealt Randy Johnson. The next year they won 116 games. The pattern I see here is: Get two or three quality players for your superstar, get better.
