He deserves more pub for his consistently excellent play.
You left out the guy who has the best ERA on the team. The dean of our staff.
Both lost the World Series by the way.
If Wade Miller pitches well this weekend get ready for weeks of intense "Who should go to the bullpen?" on WEEI.
I'm 52, and went to my first Sox game at Fenway in 1963. When people ask me about the 2004 season, my short answer is, "They had the best pitching they've ever had in my lifetime."
You're not supposed to talk about, let alone gloat. In freaking May of all things!
If they end up making the playoffs, I'm blaming you.
I see we sell to the same companies.
I actually have a surcharge for two companies because they are so demanding. It is referred to as a PITA or "Pain In The A$$" charge.
But they hate them because they win, and have done so more - far more, in fact - than any team in the history of pro sports.
How about them Chicago White Sox? They're now 21-7.
That's the secret to his success.
This point has been in the Chicago papers. The Chicago White Sox declined to pay Ordonez (sp?) the big money he wanted, even after he had produced so well and consistently for them over the last few years. Of course, he had the knee injury. Everyone thought it would hurt the White Sox big time, especially after Frank White went out. But what's been pointed out is that the money he would have been paid was spread around to numerous other players that were picked up. The median salary (the point at which 50% of the contracts are below that number, and 50% are above; it's not the same as the average) rose from $750K to well over a million. They were able to take the money and raise the average level of player ability instead of having one or two big stars and numerous lesser players, and now the White Sox have the best record in the majors. And they're not even hitting well!
They're way overdue for a title as well. Of course they probably should have won it in 1919 but they "under performed" for some strange reason during that series.
Well it about time for the White Sox, it seems like they spent the last 20 years recovering from the SI curse.
They've spent a longer time trying to get over the Black Sox curse.
And also the fact they haven't won a pennant since 1917 and
plavey in a World Series since 1959.
I meant played. Doggone typos!!
