She'll be national president of the NAGS within 6 months.

Before then, she'll be on every talk show in existence, beating the record now held jointly by John McCain and Joe Biden.

After reading "American Soldier," Karpinski disgusts me.

Because she basically threatened to make it stick to the administration if they pursued her. He still gets to punish her through the demotion, and she has no real recourse.

Story now.....here's an excerpt.

WASHINGTON — President Bush has approved the demotion of Army Reserve Brig.Gen. Janis Karpinski (search), whose unit was in charge during the Abu Ghraib (search) prisoner abuses in 2003, officials said Thursday.

The Army also said three other, more senior generals had been cleared of wrongdoing in the prisoner abuse cases, actions that had been previously reported. That means Karpinski is the only general to be disciplined.

Karpinski was demoted to colonel, a move that required approval by the president. She also received a written reprimand by Army Vice Chief of Staff Gen. Richard Cody for dereliction of duty and shoplifting and was formally relieved of command of the 800th Military Police Brigade on April 8.

Do you have links or sources to explain that better?

I'm not flaming. I'm ignorant...in a good way.

It was evident that this product of clintonist affirmative action was the problem from the get go. Discipline in her unit was nonexistent. I gather the military wanted to demote her some time ago but were afraid to offend the feminist contingent in congress and the press.

If the MSM pulls the feminist card on the administration now, they should fire back with the Abu Ghraib card. What, is the press trying to condone torture? Why only yesterday they were complaining about it.

Speaking of which, I heard a brief announcement on NPR this afternoon, I think "All Things Considered," saying that they were about to interview an officer who witnessed prison torture at Guantanamo. I'm afraid I switched stations and didn't hear any further details. Scum.

Now *that's* a career killer.

Shoplifting? Did you slip that in there or did the VCOS?

How did that one slip by?

Because the Occifer Machine kicked in and protected her.

Glad she's getting busted.

I about wanted to vomit watching her snivel on all of the talk-shows.

This is about as bad as it could be - a demotion, especially at that level is devastating. I guess shw was just negligient, while England, Graner, et al were proactive in their bad behavior.

Now she can go down on the books with the rest of the Clinton Administration female failures. Why this liberal half-wit wanted to be in the military in the first place is beyond me. If democrats would select women based on intelligence (like the Bush administration has) instead of ideology, maybe they wouldn't be such laughingstocks and embarrassments. I still chuckle at the thought of Janet Reno being in charge of anything. She is qualified to be a model for posters that encourage abstinence, though.
