A Montgomery County school board member will sit in on sex-education classes that have prompted parental protest and a federal lawsuit claiming an anti-religious and pro-homosexual bias in the curriculum. "I do take those concerns seriously, which is why I want to see it," said Steve Abrams, the lone Republican on the nine-member school board. Mr. Abrams, who is also chairman of the county Republican Party, is the only school board member who has expressed plans to visit the new sex-education classes, a school official said.

Here's the problem. They now know he is coming and will surely know when he is coming and the class can easily be altered to make it acceptable for the visitor.
What should have been done is have one of the students secretly tape the class so the real class could be observed.

I can imagine the class that night:
"Looking at slide 9, we see that one form of relationship is the Heterosexual one. Now ... let's jump to slide 87. Slides 10-86 aren't worth looking at tonight ... And as you see, bestiality is illegal in this state, so be careful. Any questions?"

Excuse me!?
What happened to the SOP where a committee is formed to study the possibility that maybe something should be done?
For someone to just up and attend the class in question, well, isn't that rather direct and to the point?
Something like this should be considered for a couple months. For all we know the presence of this (said with disgust) Republican might intimidate the instructors, possibly altering their agenda. Even worse, what if the instructors don't have the good sense to limit their instruction to the "published" version of the class rather then, you know, the other one.

The cameras might scare the kids, so they should dress them up to make them more friendly looking. Maybe in a Big Brother costume.

That was done in MA at a graphic homo-sex-ed symposium that include ten year olds. The guy had to leave the state. The bastards ruined him.

It could be marketed as a "reality-TV" show: (TV announcer voice) The Drama is Real.... The Children Are Your Own.... Find Out Who Cheated on the Quiz ... and Who Forgot Their Homework for the 23rd Time This Year....

School officials initially told The Washington Times that parents would not be allowed to sit in on the sex-ed courses. But when they were presented with their own policy for encouraging parental visits, they said they would allow parents with children in the classes to visit and watch. Hmmmmm

It's what you cal a win-win. It would be entertaining just to watch the unions fight it.

On a related note, I sometimes have to wonder whether my kids' "health" teacher gets her jollies from speaking to teens in "clinical" language.
It's easy to picture Chester Molester standing up in front of a bunch of 9th-grade hotties while talking so nonchalantly about the reproductive system...

and pro-homosexual bias in the curriculum. They left out sex with dead people, S$M with whips/chains/hooks, foot licking, and sex with animals. This is obviously a biased curriculum. If they're going to teach dysfunctional sex, why not teach it all?

According to O'Reilly, 4 million kids a year are sexually assaulted by their teachers. That's not a bad idea.

Mr. Abrams, who is also chairman of the county Republican Party...Montgomery County has a Republican Party??? Could have fooled me. Including county council, county exec, state delegates, state senators and US Reps there are 47 elected officals in Montgomery County; 4 are Republicans.
To: usapatriot28
Correct that, only 3 of 45 are Republicans. And one of the US Representatives (Roscoe Bartlett) actually represents western Maryland, but the district creeps slightly into Montgomery County.
To: JZelle
Steve Abrams, the lone Republican on the nine-member school board. Mr. Abrams, Sharon Cox use to be considered a Republican but she jumped ship a few years ago. This school board had also recently been caught attempting to secretly sell off much needed school board land. (rumor is to benefit our rat county exec.)
