The "educational diversity" argumentgoing back to Justice Lewis Powell's famous dictum in the 1978 Bakke case and now adopted by a majority of the Courtclaims that the presence of a certain indeterminate number of non-whites in an undergraduate or post-graduate program helps provide an intellectual and social diversity that students, or, rather, white students (since whites are not considered part of the diversity but rather the experiencing subjects of it), need to experience if they are to be prepared for positions of leadership in our racially diverse society. The nation's future, wrote Powell, "depends upon leaders trained through wide exposure to the ideas and mores of students as diverse as this Nation of many peoples," a phrase that anticipates by more than a decade the multiculturalist slogan, "One Nation, Many Peoples." Grutter further expands the claimed educational benefits of diversity to include the encouragement of "cross-racial understanding," the breaking down of "racial stereotypes" (another clue that prejudiced whites are the intended beneficiaries of the diversity experience), and the development of the "skills needed in today's increasingly global marketplace"skills that require exposure to "widely diverse people, cultures, ideas, and viewpoints." Again we see the suggestion that it is whites, the non-diverse, who need exposure to non-whites, the "widely diverse."

And we wonder why the US continues to lag behind other countries in the sciences and math fields.
"Hey Chang. What do you call many different looking people who don't know math and science?"
Americans!
LOL. Unfortunately, it's true.
Ah. So the idea is that ethnicity and "culture" determine one's outlook. But, as with most idiotic liberal arguments, it only applies to certain groups and not to others.
Could it be that paternalistic liberals think the darkies can't help but have their worldviews conditioned by race? After all, the argument never applies to whitey.
Related to this, did you notice that the Runaway Bride, who accused a male hispanic and a white female with abducting her, issued an apology through her lawyer to hispanics?
But not whites?
And nobody in the media, NOT ONE, asked or raised the issue of whether she should apologize to whites for suggesting that a white person might kidnap her.
"And we wonder why the US continues to lag behind other countries in the sciences and math fields."
Maybe...But I'm still waiting to see the benefits that should have accrued to these other supposedly well-educated nations for all of their often-touted and supposed superior educational aptitude to us ill-educated and ill-mannered Americans. Maybe putting a kid through years of Marxist indoctrination by the leftist intellectuals of the world has a degenerative effect more depressing than not teaching math and science very well.
Actually, 'culture' DOES determine one's outlook--but not in the sense that any of the "diversity" wonks understand.
'Culture' is derived from 'cult'--or religion, if you prefer.
And religion DEFINITELY plays a role in one's outlook.
Of course, the diversitywonks don't practice any religion as we understand it (God, Devil, judgment, all that stuff...)--rather, their 'religion' starts with High Priests dressed in black robes.
Sure enough, their 'religion' ends in death--to others, mind you...
This was one of the most depressing articles I've read in a long time. His basic points: 1) Conservatives have given up on 'the culture war' 2)Mexicans who break the law to sneaki into the USA automatically become members of a protected class and by doing so actually grow the percentage of jobs set aside for 'hispanics'. It's a cycle that ends with most jobs being part of a spoils system. 3)unliklely to end in our lives.
I am bitter.
