Maybe those used boats weren't quite the bargain they were hoping for.

Poor Canada ....pretending they are a military force, capable of self defense....
Sad, what the leftist French speaking "citizens" have done to Canada....

They have four subs? They have more than one boat of any kind in their navy?

I can hear it now.
"Jean, I told you not to go to Crazy Ian's used sub sale, but no, you just had to have a submarine."
The bizarre thing is that this is still a lead item on CBC News. Saw another story on The National last night about the sub.
It's become a big joke around my house. Whenever tehre is nothing on at 10pm, we turn to CBC to watch a submarine story. About half the time we are not disappointed.

Hey, yo, Canada---if you can't afford to pay---you can't afford to PLAY. I thought you were running the Navy on the money you're saving on cheap medicine. Or maybe the money you're saving by not helping much with the WOT. Ask Rummy---he's got a dozen Sturgeons layed up---maybe he'll loan you a squadron?

A recent Commons committee report, separate from the navy board, found the political concerns of former prime minister Jean Chretien delayed the sub acquisition for several years after cabinet approved it in the mid-1990s. The panel concluded the additional time the subs spent neglected in British docks contributed to their decay. The boats have been plagued by leaks, equipment glitches and electrical problems since the first delivery in 2000.
I wonder what political concerns Lieut. Saunders died for. I'm sure Cretin considers it worth the sacrifice.

Holy Shi'ite Batman! This is series. I didn't know that Canada had a Navy, much less any personnel in their military.

While February's federal budget promises $500 million this year and $600 million next year ...
Past funding reallocations by the Defence Department, designed to address concerns raised in assessments like MacLean's, have only met six to nine per cent of demand.
...the political concerns of former prime minister Jean Chretien delayed the sub acquisition for several years after cabinet approved it in the mid-1990s. The panel concluded the additional time the subs spent neglected in British docks contributed to their decay.
This is an object lesson in why liberals should not control the military.
